Reflection Essay

Portfolios have always been part of my academics since high school and Ive struggle

with them every year. Theres not only one way to present a portfolio but a few ways. Final

Portfolios can be demonstrated differently, for example, when I was in high school the Portfolios

we did were quite different from the once Ive done during college. One specific portfolio that

was commonly composed with all the assignment from the different teachers was the PBL.

Project Base Learning (PBL) was our final in high school, we had to present our portfolio to

business judges explaining the different parts of the project we did for each class and how the

correspond to the world of Business and Tourism world. Which was the academy I was part of at

Miguel Contreras Learning Complex. That portfolio had to include the three different parts from

each team member when completing the Project Base Learning. At the end of all presentations

the judges and teacher gather together and discuss the

My experience with writing is that starting an introduction is always the most difficult

part for me. I've always struggled to imply the main ideas within the beginning and restating

them at the end. Sometimes my ideas are all over the place, making difficult for the reader to

understand. I want my ideas to be more organize. Also, I want the introduction and conclusion to

be easier for me as I start to improve in my writing. My writing isnt strong in the beginning. It

takes time for me to organize all my ideas so each and one of them get connected. My

vocabulary is also something Ive been doing on my free time. Good writers, or should I say
great writers often have great vocabulary and good sentence structure. An important factor of

writing because those are the main keys to have a successful book or short story.

In an English class writing is as important as reading. In the beginning of my English

class my writing skills were not so good. It was difficult for me to come up with titles, my titles

werent that great. It was difficult for me to create a title that connect to my main idea, just as

organizing my body paragraphs. Now when I write an essay I make sure to include details and

add descriptions as much as possible. Revising was the key to converting a bad essay into an

excellent essay. Whenever I revise my essays I look for grammar mistakes and the composer of

my sentences. I also look for a way to narrow down my sentence structure so I wont sound

repetitive. Out of the three progressions I found Project Space was more of a description essay.

Project Web we had to do a bit of our own research since we were going to discuss the

communities. While Project Text was the most difficult project. I wasnt sure of the topic I was

going to talk about, yet I knew it had to do something with both genders being viewed different

yet one gender doesnt have more power than the other. My rough draft was confusing to

understand because of the confusion of gender identity and sex preference. It was cleared up in

my final draft. At the end English was great I improve in my writing and reading and

comprehension of text. Now its time to self-educate myself and keep learning new skills.
