1. Keep Taking LCNV ESOL Classes

2. Find an English Buddy - A family member, friend, or co-worker with whom

you can practice specific English conversation skills such as:

o Practice conversation - How was your weekend?, What is your favorite

restaurant?, What are your hobbies?, etc.
o Review All Star Homework (For example, new words).
o Flash card exercises.
o Read English books to small children

3. Living Language Course (3 Books/ 9 audio CDs - $35 on Amazon).

 4. You Tube English Classes. Look for classes with realistic conversations.
The classes should be interesting, fun and not too easy or too hard. Heres
an example (but feel free to find other videos!)

5. Flash Cards to Memorize Important Words

o Nouns - (Types of Food, Part of the Body, etc.)
o 50 Most Common Verbs
o 50 Most Common Irregular Past Tense Verbs

6. Watch one American TV show a day - Comedies (Friends or Seinfeld),

Game Shows (Family Feud), Old TV Shows (Andy Griffith Show, the
Munsters, etc.), Court Room Shows (Judge Judy), or the local news.

Note - Its fine to watch TV shows with subtitles in your native language. See attached
list of Seinfeld Clips..

7. AudioBooks - Find an interesting audiobook (or a story you already know
from a watching the movie). Listen to the story for fun (not homework). See
attached list of free Internet Short Stories, Audiobooks, and TED Talks.

Note - The TED Talks have subtitles in English and many other languages.

Note - Its better to listen to 5 audiobooks with 60-75% comprehension than 1

audiobook with 100% comprehension.

8. Library English Conversation Groups

The Lorton, Sherwood Hall, and Kingstowne Public Libraries have English
Conversation Groups.
