EVIDENCE FOR STANDARD 3: PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

The following evidence provided is from an assessment pieced that supports standard 3 of professional practice. The assessment piece is a unit plan designed for a year 6 science
component of learning about electricity. This piece of evidence not only supports standard 3 of professional practice but also numerous standards including standard 1, and 2
as well. This piece of evidence goes through the unit plan of electricity through a rational, curriculum links, prior knowledge, key inquiry questions, unit outcomes, assessment
strategies, science and technology content, misconceptions, differentiation of learning and teaching and learning strategies. Each of these elements of the unit design aligns with
examples of evidence for plan, structure and sequence learning programs (3.2), use teaching strategies (3.3), select and use resources (3.4) and use effective classroom communication (3.5).

Although this unit plan doesnt consist of establishing challenging learning goals (3.1) the unit plan is designed to set children up for learning through a general learning goal.
This supports establishing the learning goal of meeting curriculum standards. Although children arent dont plan their learning goals into this particular lesson this is a teaching
and learning strategy that can be implemented before the unit commences. In the case of meeting standard 3.1, this will be further unpacked in my own professional development
plan (assessment 2).

As well as standard 3, this particular assessment piece of a unit plan relates to standard 4 of professional practice by creating and maintain supportive and safe learning
environments. By exploring the evidence it is evident that attention has been met in regards to supporting childrens participation (4.1), managing classroom activities (4.2),
maintaining student safety (4.4) and use ICT responsibly, safely and ethically (4.5). The only element that isnt evident as greatly as the others includes those of managing
challenging behaviours (4.3) (AITSL, 2015). This particular standard will be further looked into during the professional development plan. The evidence of each element in
standard 4 can be seen through the close and effective planning if the unit to ensure all elements are met. Although it is hard to visually see these standard being met during a
lesson, I believe that through passing every prac experience to date shows enough that I have met these critical elements as they are crucial when on prac.
