FASTING & FEASTS TO FOLLOW SOON PASSION, INTEGRITY & APNAPAN

Dear All,
By the time you will receive next issue the Muslim holy month of fasting would have started so
Ramazan Mubarak. This is also time that we start calculating Zakatfor those who deserve the
support. In the next issue we will include the name of the organisations.

This also means that soon a numberof events will be planned to celebrate Eid. It is my pleasure
to inform that Pakistanis in Australia will be hosting Eid event on 2nd July and an application has
been submitted to City of Belmont for booking.

It will be a family event led by Asma Sabir. We have kept timings for 12 6 keeping in view that it
will be a cold weekend. The date of second July has also been suggested by members as school
holidays would have been started and Br. Saleem Yusuf is organising Eid festival on 1 st July a
spart of Australian Arab Association.

On a separate note, Consul General of Pakistan in Sydney Mr. Yousfani will be visiting Perth this
week with Mr. Asad Jatoi, the Trade Development Officer. We have been approached by the
office and are waiting for the confirmation for time on Thursday or Friday for a meeting.

In this issue the latest media release has been included (p.2) regarding the Pakistani performers
which was shocking for Pakistanis in Australia. This was further complicated when the whole
event was cancelled and terror threat was reported in overseas media as the reason.

MEETING WITH THE HONOURABLE MR. TONY SHEEHAN

It was a previlige to meet the Honourable Mr. Tony Sheehan who is the Commonwealth Counter
Terrorism Coordinator at the Office of the department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. This meeting
was attended by representatives from the commmunity as well as different state and federal
departments.

Among different issues, we did raise the issue of media reports regarding cancellation of a cultural event
and if a clarification can be provided.

Sohnyz Eid Bazaar on the 23 rd of June at Mills Park in Beckenham, is a free entry event to
enjoy shopping , live performances and Sohnyz fashion show.
