andkeepmecontent.Thosestepsincludedexpandingmyrole4xoverandgivingmearaise.
Thisallhappenedwithjust5monthsatthejob.Iamaveryhardanddeterminedworker,and
thatcanonlybeamplifiedifItrulyloveorreallywanttodosomething.Thatisalwaysthe
caseforwhereverIapply,asIonlydoitifItrulybelieveitisagoodfitallaround.Iamareal
fastlearnerandIpridemyselfonthat.Dontneedalotofhelp.Iknowhowtocontrolmyself
andmybehavior.IcanspeakSpanishandIamagoodcommunicatoralongwithfriendlyand

soil,movelogs,etc.Thiswaspurelyonavolunteeronlybasisandthiswaswaybeforethe
opportunitytoworkfortheparkdistrictevermaterialized.Thiswasalsonotusedasatoolto
helpgainemploymentwhenthejobdidpresentitself.

DuringChristmasEveacallforvolunteertohelpoutgiftswasmade.Iwasfortunateenough
tohearitandIofferedmyservices.Ihadtobeoutsideforabout4hoursandhelpdirectcars
intoalineandtothechurchandoncetheylinedupIwenttopickuppresentsandthenhand
themouttothecarsthatwerewaiting.

Forfootball,2xeveryweekIwasluckyenoughtobeselectedtoattendLincolnElementary
Schoolandreadtothechildren.Iwouldbeattheschoolforatleastanhoureverytimeand
wouldreadwhateverthechildrenwantedmetoreadinSpanish.AfterIwouldattendrecess
withthem.

ThisstartedoffasanassignmentbutendedassomethingIlookedforwardtoeveryweek.I
wasextremelyluckyenoughtohavethetimeavailabletobeabletogotwiceaweek.Iwould
haveassignmentsalreadymadebytheteacherswhenIgotthere.Theywouldgiveme
instructionsastowhattheywantedthechildrentolearnordoandthentheywouldgivemea
smallgrouporindividualstotakewithme.Itwasanamazingexperience.Iloveworkingwith
kidsandthesekidsprovidedmeandupcloseandpersonallookastohowtheirmindswork.
LateronIbecamemorethanjustanotherteacherforthem,andtheywerealwaysfilledwith
joywhenIcame,aswasI.
