This guide provides the steps for connecting, configuring, and testing the SLA-1500-OEM on a SLA-1500-
AB (accessory board or AB). The AB provides the standard connections for communication with the
SLA-1500-OEM. We recommend that you setup a standalone network or connect directly to the SLA-
HARDWARE. The below diagram outlines these two options.
NETWORK CONFIGURATION
Either of these examples require that you assign the HOST computer a static IP address. Please refer to
your computers documentation on how to assign a static address. Example #1 shown here consists of
the SLA-1500-OEM, a network switch, and the HOST computer. The SLA-1500-OEM has defaulted to its
pre-defined IP address of 169.254.1.180. Example #2 shows the SLA-1500-OEM connected directly to
the HOST computer.
NOTE: Please disable your wireless adapter if there is one present/active on the HOST computer. The SLA-1500-
OEMs default IP address (when no DHCP server is available) is 169.254.1.180. Assign a static IP address to the
HOST computer of 169.254.1.X, where X is 0-254 (do not use 180). Use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and
gateway of 169.254.1.1.
If all you require is the analog video output from our hardware, you can optionally just use a serial
connection to communicate with the SLA-1500-OEM (AB). The SLA-PANEL software supports using serial
communication (COM) ports. A Null Modem connection is required for this communications. We
supply a 9-pin null modem adapter (SLA-CAB-NULL) that can be used with a straight-thru serial cable.
There will be a separate Kit Parts List included with the SLA-1500-OEM. This guide will refer to parts
contained in the base kit items listed in the table below. The kit optionally may contain other items for
your specific requirements. Please refer to the included separate kit parts list for inventory purposes.
This section will guide you through the software and hardware setup process. The first steps
outline how to install the SLA-PANEL application. It provides a basic interface to the features and functions of SLA-
1500-OEM (with the AB).
NOTE: If you have an earlier version of the SLA-PANEL software installed, please uninstall it prior to installing new
version.

After installation of the software and the very first time the SightLine SLA-PANEL application is loaded,
Windows Firewall will prompt to Allow Access so the application can communicate on the network
properly. Please make sure to respond to this request promptly, as there is a timeout value where the
default option will restrict access.
