My Dream Bedroom Project

Imagine you could decorate your bedroom anyway you wanted. It could
be a cozy retreat, a funky and modern pad, or an entertainment paradise.

Here are the rules:

1. You have $5,000.00 to spend and you cannot go over your

budget.
2. You have to keep track of these things when selecting items for
your room:
a. The website you located the product on.
b. The description of the product
c. The PRICE!!
3. Your room is 10 x 12 ( 8 ceiling) and you need to keep that in
mind when looking at paint or flooring.
4. You can buy anything you want, however, you will have buy these
things for your room first:

a. Bedding (comforters, sheets, pillows)

b. Paint or wallpaper (remember your room is 10 x 12 and
you will need to determine how much of this item you will
need)
c. Flooring (carpet, hardwood, rugs, laminate, etc.,
remember your room is 10 x 12 and you will need to
determine how much of this item you will need)
d. At least one large piece of furniture. (bed, entertainment
cabinet, dresser, etc.)

5. You will create a basic spread sheet that will keep track of your
expenses. The columns will have the following titles:
a. Item
b. Vendor
c. Description
d. Price
e. Total
Your spreadsheet should begin like this:

(Your Name)
My Dream Bedroom Budget Sheet
Item Vendor Description Price Total
Beginning $5000.00
Balance
(First item) (website) (product ($xx.xx) (Formula)
description)

Here is a list of websites that you can use to do your research:

Wal-Mart.com Sears.com
Target.com Dillards.com
Lowes.com Best Buy.com
Ikea.com https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/
Pier1.com http://www.homedepot.com/
JCPenney.com

If you know of somewhere else you can find what you need that is fine, too.
Make sure you list where go.

Some things to do:

1. Merge and center the title of your project My Dream Bedroom

Budget Sheet and make the font size bigger than the rest of your
text.
2. Bold the column headings.
3. Insert an appropriate picture making sure it does not cover up any
of the text or numbers in your spreadsheet.
4. Insert a formula that takes your original budgeted amount and
shows a running total of what you have left over after each item you
purchase.
5. When you print the spreadsheet, make sure everything fits on one
page.
6. Format the spreadsheet with borders around each cell.
The presentation:
You must create a report style final project that is no larger than 9x12
(standard construction paper). It must include the following pages:
o Cover (include your name and an illustration or graphic)
o Scale drawing of the room (including placement of furniture and other
items)

Make a scaled blueprint (drawing) of a 10 12 room, including 1 door, 2

windows, and a closet door (write down the scale 1 in = 2 feet or in = 1
foot, etc.);

o Pictures (advertisements, photos, etc.) of items purchased also include

samples of carpet, paint and fabric colors)
o A table or other spreadsheet of your detailed spending (see attached
example) Show the beginning balance of $5,000 and your ending balance
as part of your table or spreadsheet.
o A paragraph (or more) describing the room and why you chose specific
items for the room. Use this to tell about your personality and the things
you like.
