In the early seventeenth century, a young man called DArtagnan left his small provincial
town in France. He was on his way to Paris. He was skilled with the sword as he trained a lot, for
his dream was to become a Musketeer: one of the kings guards.
Florence was an old woman and a peaceful shopkeeper who lived close to the kings palace.
One day, she was attacked by thieves. They were about to hurt her when DArtagnan faced them
and, after a fight, drove them off. That is how DArtagnan met Florence. They soon became good
friends.
At the palace, the king decided to take a weeks holiday and to leave his daughter, Princess
Anne, in charge of the kingdom. Anne, who was still young, was quite scared to rule the kingdom,
even if it was only for one week, but she promised her father she would do her best.
That day, DArtagnan bumped into Princess Anne. He apologized, but the captain of the
Musketeers, Rochefort, thought DArtagnan was attacking the Princess, so he tried to capture him.
DArtagnan managed to escape before hiding in Florences shop.
Madame Defarge was a rich, wicked woman. Her family had once ruled the country.
Because of her evil intentions, she had been banished from France. Now that the king was away on
holiday, she saw those seven days as an opportunity to recover her familys right to the throne and
become queen. With promises of wealth, she persuaded Rochefort and Pierre, the court jester, to
betray the Crown and formulate a plan to kill Princess Anne. But DArtagnan overheard the plan,
and when he saw Princess Anne in danger, he stepped in and saved her. Unfortunately, Anne did
not see it that way. She thought DArtagnan was attacking her, so he was captured. DArtagnan tried
to explain his actions, but she would not listen, and he was taken to prison.
Madam Defarge, who by now was quite impatient, decided to take action, and, with
Rocheforts help, sent the princess to prison. All Madame Defarge had to do now was to capture the
unsuspecting king upon his return, and she would become the queen.
In prison, Anne and DArtagnan were powerless to stop the king from walking into
Madame Defarges trap. Florence tried to help them from the outside, but was captured and
thrown into prisons too. Together, they thought of a plan to escape and defend the Crown.
It was dangerous, but it was their only hope...
