Activities Log Mentorship project 2016-2017

Phase 1
Date: 23/09/2016 Time: 09:00 Location: KNT.A4 Activity: Student Kick Off
Short Evaluation & Personal Reflection:
Unfortunately, I didnt know that we have the Kick off day and I had planned a 2-day trip to The
Netherlands and couldnt attend it. But I checked the PowerPoint afterwards and asked questions when
it wasnt clear.

Phase 2
Date: 1st Semester Time: - Location: - Activity: Peer Tutoring & Cultural
Event
Short Evaluation & Personal Reflection:
I missed these activities, because no one contacted me to join. I contacted the other Mentor (Victoria) to
discuss when we can meet and what we can organize for our Mentees, but she told me that they have
already met and done these 2 activities together.
The only thing that I could do was to ask her to inform me as well when they want to meet on the 2nd
semester. (I have to be honest that I was a bit late, but still I expected them to contact me as well when
they want to meet)

Phase 3
Date: 09/05/2017 Time: 11:30 Location: KAT. Activity: Peer Tutoring
Participants:
Azadeh Armon, Victoria Buylaert, Neibina Cornelissen, Axelle Harinck, Laura Palstermans
Short Evaluation & Personal Reflection:
We met in cafeteria, at Kattenberg at 11:30. They didnt have a lot of
questions as they are already familiar with the exams, but they had a
question regarding Business Economics & we explained a bit what they
can expect on the exam. I also tried to give some more information about
other courses and suggest them on which parts they need to focus more.

Date: 11/05/2017 Time: 15:00 Location: Overpoort Activity: Sport Activity

Participants:
Azadeh Armon, Victoria Buylaert, Neibina Cornelissen, Axelle Harinck, Laura Palstermans
Short Evaluation & Personal Reflection:
We couldnt organize this activity with other groups since it was hard to
arrange it on a day that everyone is available. So, we decided to do it
ourselves. We met at 15:00 in the Bowling Caf in Overpoort and played
pool there. We had some drinks as well.

Conclusion:
In my opinion, they enjoyed the sport activity the most and they benefited from the peer tutoring the
most. They could ask so many questions about the exam, for example, if the graphs are important for the
exam, or if it is really necessary to study the book as well, and this kind of questions. We didnt receive
any feedback, but I think they were satisfied with it.
The most difficult part was the arrangements and organization. As I mentioned before, for the 1st
semester, they didnt even contact me and I didnt know at all that they have already met 2 times. It was
also hard to organize and event with other mentors for the 2nd semester, since we couldnt find a date that
everyone is available.
I learnt that I should not wait for someone to contact me and I have to rely on others less and do it myself.
I also learnt that its not easy to organize an event with several people and its also hard to create an
enthusiastic atmosphere. Honestly, I dont think that we were successful in doing so.
