Gripping Socket

The Gripping Socket is one of Hydratights newest

additions to the line of Torque Accessories. This
socket has been designed to grip on to a nut during the
bolting operation thus reducing the need for manual
stabilization when operating square drive (SQ.DR.)
hydraulic wrenches.

This gripping feature enables the operator to engage

the socket and torque wrench in a given application and
conduct the bolting operation using a remote operating
device. This minimizes exposure to pinch points and
high pressure hydraulic connections during operation
thereby resulting in greater operator safety.
Universal SQ.DR. Style Dedicated Hydratight RSL Style
The Gripping Socket can be used in any orientation
including inverted positions thus reducing the possibility
of tool slippage, operator fatigue, and pinch points.
Gripping Sockets are available in both a Hydratight
RSL dedicated format, thereby maximizing the
combined safety features of the RSL wrench and
Gripping Socket design, and in universal SQ.DR. format
which enables use on all standard format hydraulic
square drive wrenches.

Features:
Unique patented ball & taper grip design enables
wrench power cycle operation on standard hexagon
nuts in any orientation including inverted applications
Quick nut release bayonet collar action
Ultra high grade stainless steel construction
Non-percussive full wrench torque capability
Designed to suit ANSI B18.2.2 Heavy Hex. & ANSI
B18.2.4 STYLE 2 hexagon nuts
Can be supplied in universal SQ.DR. or Hydratight
RSL dedicated wrench formats
Novel pin securing detent feature enables quick fitting
and removal of the SQ.DR. type Gripping Socket from
the wrench

Note: The grip capacity of all Gripping Socket models is designed to retain approximately 10 times the weight of the largest Hydratight RSL wrench for that
particular sized Gripping Socket, subject to nut conditions. The Gripping Socket will skid at this point causing no damage to the nut producing minimal contact
marks. Gripping Sockets are not suitable for use on PTFE coated nuts.
