Objective
To experience and understand the difference between parallel circuit and series circuit
theories through the Neuschwanstein Castle model.

Abstract
Our group chose to do the project about parallel and series circuit. The goal of the
project focusing on these circuits was to let students experience the difference between the
two circuits in order to be able to determine when to use which type of circuit depending on
certain situations. We chose to make a castle model, which contains the circuit inside to
demonstrate how electricity in buildings work. The advantage of making a circuit as a
parallel one is when one light goes out, it does not have any effects on the others. Due to this
advantage, most buildings usually have parallel circuit.

Discussion

There are three errors we made while doing this project. Firstly, when we finished constructing
the model, we tried to connect the electricity but it was really difficult to do so. We had to be careful
not to break the model. There were some parts that had to be hidden inside the model but we had
already closed it. As a result, we had to try to do it upside down so the battery and the circuit could be
hidden. We realized that we should have connected the electricity to the model, while we were
making the model. Secondly, we didnt know that we needed to use light bulb holders in order to
complete the circuit. Thirdly, when we bought the batteries, we bought the ones with the wrong sizes,
so they couldnt fit the battery box.
Conclusion

A parallel circuit is when loads are parallel to each other, there are two or more
paths for the electricity to flow. The loads in our experiment are light bulb. If one blew
out, theres still current flowing to the others because they are still in a direct path
from positive to negative terminal of the battery. A series circuit is when loads are
arranged in a chain. Current has only one path to flow so if one blew out, no electricity
flow.
