Elective subjects can be a guideline for MUIDS students future career because it
demonstrates the basic foundation of the career, which can help students match their interests with
the career. The purpose of this report is to explain how students choosing their elective subjects lead
to their future career. The importance of this research report is to raise awareness to MUIDS
students on how electives subject can affect the future career. The pieces of information found in
this research report are based on seven sources. First, the article called Electives at medical
school shows some of the elective subjects and some tips of choosing elective subject. Second, the
research report entitled Elective Possibilities for High School describes some examples of
elective subjects. Third, the article entitled Benefits of Electives and Extracurricular Activities
shows the advantages of elective subjects. Fourth, the report called What Are The Benefits Of Co-
Curricular and Extracurricular Activities? describes that elective subjects are good to take. Fifth,
the article called What Decisions Will I Make While I Am At School That Can Influence My

Elective Subjects in the Middle Years suggests which elective subject matches with
which future career. The last article How Elective Courses help you investigate future careers
shows that elective can help students uncover career options that match their interest.
Elective Subjects
In high school, there are two main types of subjects which are compulsory subjects and
elective subjects. The compulsory subjects are the subjects that every students must study to
complete their degrees such as mathematics, science, history and foreign language. On the other
hand, elective subjects are chosen by the students' decision of what they want do. School will give
students a list of choice. In MUIDS, there are a lot of elective subjects such as food science,
environment science, business, economic, art, journal, chinese. For instance, you are good at art
and like it, you might take art as your elective course to develop your art skill. In the future, you
might become an art teacher, artist, fashion designer etc. (Hughes,2017). Usually, students study
elective subjects for 6-12 classes per week. The advantages of studying elective is that it can
assist learners to find their ability or passions. In addition, elective can link to the major in

the subject likely to get success from. So you can get best things from school subjects.
The second, you should select the subject that you enjoy and you will do it well because when you
like that subject, you will have the encouragement to study. Third, your future career related to
the elective subjects because if you know what you want to be, so it will be easier to know what you
should choose the elective subjects. For MUIDS student, in the future, you want to be a
interior or architecture, so in grade 10 you should select introduction of design, in grade 11,12
elective subject will be more specific. However, you should not take the elective that you think you
will relax in the class. When you decide to choose elective but you follow your friend, that will not
Some children have goals during young age for what they want to be in the future,
however some have not decided their goals yet. So the question is, how are they suppose to know
what they want to be in the future if they dont know what jobs are there out in the world?(Sterling
staff, 2015). So heres the solution. Students currently in high school can decide their jobs by
studying elective subjects in their school. Selecting wide ranges of elective courses helps students to
find jobs theyre interested in. Some of students may struggle on deciding which subjects to choose
and not choose. So the best subjects to choose are the one their character matches and the one they
enjoy learning. Making decisions on a career path is a process of discovering yourself. Electives

help students to find your strengths, or things students are interested in or you never knew existed.
A lot of children choose science elective subjects such as food science, environment
science, anatomy, computer and engineering. So if student take these courses, student might want
to be doctor, nutrients, programmer. But taking those elective does not mean that student has to be
those career, some people just take it because it is interesting and amazing. To study art
or design can lead to be architecture or artist. And those jobs are require math skills. So you might
take math as elective subjects. The elective subjects that about business and marketing are
important because it is the basis of our job. For example, student might study art at first and then
student take business, student could take what student learn in art and adapt it in business, such as
student learn how to create shoes in art and student want to do it in your business, so you will know
that what kind of shoe you should do. Elective subjects such as Chinese or German can really help
student when it comes to finding a career in the international society. If they work in a multi-
national company, foreigners from different countries might come to work and knowing their

subjects they will take that means they are interested in those subjects. In high school, there are a lot
