Abstract

Throughout this research of mobile computing, it reflects a deeper view of the internal
processing and functionality regards to the mobile device which is Samsung Gear S3.

In the first section of this report, it includes the technologies behind the success of mobile
computers which gives benefits and convenience to user mobile user in this era of
modernization. The classification of mobile computers clarifies the types of mobile
devices such as smartphones, tablets and smartwatches. Other than that, importance of
mobile computers gives the advantages to the users by performing any tasks with the
current mobile computing devices.

Next, it draws out the specifications of the mobile device as well as instruction set and
registers that operate inside the processor. Besides, it contains the memory management
and installation of operating system of the device to show hows the mobile computing
technology works in the current mobile device. I/O specifications also provide the ideas
of communications between the users with the device. Moreover, the similarities and
differences between Von Neumann architecture and the current architecture shows a
differentiation between them. The above clarification was written in words and explained
to provide the ideas to the reader. To wrap things up, this report looks furthermore how
mobile computing communicates with the mobile users.

Samsung Gear S3 is a smartwatch that consists of Tizen operating system which works
on a wide range of devices such as smartwatches, PDAs, tablets and etc. It was developed
by Samsung Electronics (Samsung, n.d.) and its officially announced on 31st of August,
2016. For Samsung Gear S3, Samsung offers up two designs which are Frontier and
Classic. Both designs still implementing Tizen operating system and it has a rotating
bezel that enable the user to interact with the smartwatch by saving the user from swiping
the screen continuously (Sawh, 2016). The differences between Frontier and Classic
design of Samsung Gear S3 are Classic design is lighter than Frontier design as it doesnt
own a LTE connectivity whereas Frontier do. Samsung Gear S3 does have the
connectivity such as LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, MST and A- (Samsung,
Samsung Gear S3, n.d.)GPS with GLONASS. Samsung Gear S3 now has a larger battery
capacity 380mAh battery that able to give the users about 3 to 4 days of battery life
(Sawh, 2016). The water resistant technology of Samsung Gear S3 is IP68, IP stands for
International Protection, while the two numbers beside it have separate meaning. The
number of 6 indicates dust tight function while number of 8 stands for the technology of
protection under a long time immersion pressure.
