Here is a copy of the assignment brief that I
have chosen to do which is unit 32 Assignment 4

Below is the proof of the client liaison and that

the meeting that were planned between the
client and me and set out what was going to
happen and when it was going to happen.

Aim: to collect all of the assets that I will be using for my ident

Evidence: First of all, I will take another

look at my assets document and
prepare to collect all of the assets that
I will be using. This means that I will
use the links that I have put in my
assets table to view the clips and then
by copying the URL from YouTube and
using the website
http://www.clipconverter.cc/ this allows
me to download and save the clips
that I want to use for my ident in the
right format of MP4 this way can edit
them in Adobe Premier Pro and also
once edited I can then import them to

director. I am now going to look at all of the

assets that I have collected and decide what clips
I want to use I do need to bear in mind that the
whole of my ident needs to be 30 seconds or
longer.

here is a screenshot of me downloading the clip I will then save this in my personal
work space in creative media, year 2, unit 32, ass 4, assets. I will repeat this process
for all of the clips that I am going to be using within my ident this means that I will
do the same process for the other clips that I will be needing for my ident.

Now I have collected all of the assets that I wanted to

use and I have saved them in my personal work space.
I have also gone through all of the links that I have
downloaded and made sure that they are working as
well as in the right
format. through

been keeping up to
date my sources
table this is of all the
URLs that I have been looking at along with all of
the assets that I have downloaded even though
they are listed on my assets document

Learnt: I have now downloaded all of the clips that

I am going to be using for my ident

Aim: to create my logo

I am going to be working in Photoshop to create my logo I will need to set the canvas
size at 15 x 10 cm heres a screenshot of what I have set my canvas to on Photoshop
I have also set my background to transparent so that I will be able to make my ident
look more professional in the long run. Now that I have set my logo background I will
be designing the main ident logo. The main tools I will be using is the paint tool
along with the rectangle tools this will help me get the main outlined for the shapes
that I will need. Using the paint tool I have started to draw out the outline for my
logo

festival with all of the

created and scored
them out of 10 this
also included criticism of how the TV ident
can be improved. To the right is also an

Here are also screenshots of my checklist this shows how I did everything with more
evidence than the diary.
Below is the first page of my diary in a readable format however due to the length of
the rest of my diary the rest will be screen shots.

Diary

Aim: to have collected all of my assets and completed my Logo

I have collected all of the assets that I need to edit in Photoshop to make my CD
cover and poster and now I am going to start editing them but first of all I am going
to set the size for the front CD cover (12cm x 12cm) and the CD Back and spine
(13cm x 12cm) and saved them under the correct names.
 Now I am going to start
editing the logo first I
opened the image into
Photoshop and first
using the magic want
tool I am going to get
rid of the background
by clicking on any area I want to make
transparent and then I need to get rid of the
original writing so I can replace it with the

pixels Im going to do this by just simply painting over it but first of all I need to
make sure that I have the right background colour Im going to do this by using the
eyedropper tool, clicking on the colour that I want to make the background on the
graphic and this will make my paint brush the same colour then Im going to colour
over the writing and to make the logo bolder with the paint brush on 3 pixels and in
black Im going to go around my logo. Now that I have done all that, I am going to
put in the band name and this is going to be my own font so by using the slim tablet
I am going to draw it in.

Here is what my final logo looks like I will now export it so I am able to use it on my
poster and the CD cover.
 Aim: is to have all of the right
measurements for my CD cover,
create it, and start to create the
back and spine

I am now going to start on the rest of the graphics.

Opening them up in Photoshop here, I am going to crop
out all of the bits I do not need and make it so that I only have the parts that I need
so in fact I am going to make this one graphic into about two other graphics. First of
all Im going to start with the person
and just get
rid of
everything
else and
make it more
bolder by
going over
the other
colours and
making the
outline darker
again using
the eyedropper tool and the pain
brush again and also cropping out the bits I dont need. Now I have cropped out Im
going to drag and drop the rectangle on my poster and also my cd cover and Im
going to do the same with my banner as well. Now that I have duplicated my layers, I
am going to slip it horizontally so I can have the two images facing each other. And
look now I have done that Im going to add in more off the start I did this by using
the lasso tool and then just duplicating the layer and placing the starts where I need
them to go. Now I have finished my front CD cover. Am going to apply all of this to
do the back the only difference is I need to do the spine to make sure that I know
where this is going to be placed I will be using a rectangle measured out a 1cm and
make it into a slightly different colour this is so I know where I am going to have to
place the writing on the spine. Once I have done that I will be adding in the list of all
of the songs that will feature

For this unit there was no form of questionnaire done however I did get some
comment from my peers and tutor and this can be found in my evaluation.

My tutor gave me the brief as this informed me to what it was I needed to do and
also what the client wanted as well as the background behind the assignment. I also
had a client meeting this just clarified what the client wanted along with what all of
the sizes needed to be and what it is that they would be using the final graphics for
and the purpose in which they are being created.

Effectiveness

Extent to which brief has been realised

How has my work met the brief? I followed the assignment brief to make sure that
my work met it as it said that I needed to create a CD cover consisting of a front,
back and spine. In addition, an A3 poster and for it to look professional and be of a
good/high quality. Also along with creating the three graphics, I also needed to keep
a dairy up-to-date of what it is that I did to create my graphics and also list any
sources that I used through this can be from me including images of albums as
examples and also from doing research of other bands I just copied and pasted the
URL onto my sources document.

Use of appropriate methods & techniques

The main software that I have used through

my work and also creating these graphics in
Photoshop as it is the best software for me to
use when it comes to what I want to do which
is taking different images editing them and
also re arranging them and adding text to a
certain canvas size to fit the assignment brief.
All of the skills that I have used I have used I
have documented in my checklist this is what
I have done on Photoshop and what tools I
have used whilst I have been creating all of
my graphics. As you can see to the right this
is part of my checklist and all that I did was
write about what it is I did and how I used
each tool and add on to Photoshop

Level of professionalism achieved

I feel as if my level of professionalism that I have achieved is actually quite high and
I am happy with the outcome of all the graphics that I have produced and I think that
any band who need advertisement would use the posted that I have created as I feel
as it is fitting tit he band and the look that they have along with fitting with the genre
as the genre of pop-punk is unusual and I wanted that to come through in the
artwork and poster that I have designed for the pixels also my graphics that are
included in my work I have also made sure that my graphics are of a high quality.

Problem solving

The only problem I came across to do with my graphics was getting the CD cover to
fit the case as it was smaller than what I needed it to be as the size that I had
researched wasnt the right size however I did solve this by just simply measuring
the standard CD case that I needed the cover artwork to fit in and then enter the
dimensions into Photoshop and just re sized some of the images and then reprinted
and cut it out then it fitted perfectly. This was the only problem that I came across
whilst working on this unit and it was easily and very simply solved.

Skill development & Areas for improvement

Overall the areas that I think I can improve on is using a more of a variety of tool
especially when it comes to Photoshop I need to venture out from the basic tools that
I always seem to use and try some more different ways of getting the result I want as
this can also mean that I find a way to do something better than I was doing before
another thing I could improve on is keeping my diary up to date I found it easier to
write about some steps I was going to do and then actually do them however there
are times where I didnt go into as much detail as was needed and I defiantly missed
out some steps when writing about what I did as well as including screenshots off my
work as this was something that I also found that I forgot to do as well as I seemed
to get carried away with creating the graphics and forgot to write about it.

Sources of information

Self-evaluation

My conclusion for this unit is that overall, I am proud of what I have achieved
although in some places it could do with some work. I have developed my skills
further on Photoshop. In addition, this is something that had used before and now I
have even more experience with the software however it is with the use for creating
something that I have not quite done before. This being about my fifth time working
with Photoshop but my first on make sure the sizes are so accurate .there are things
that I would do differently having known what I know now. Overall, I am happy with
the final look of my graphics and how the CD cover and A3 poster turned out
however there are certain things looking at other people work that I feel I could have
incorporated into my work.

product and then around the edges written all about how I am going to create the
graphics and what software Im going to be using e.g. Photoshop I also went into

Maths

I used maths in some aspects of this product as we had to do things such as set a
stage dimension before we were able to start the final stage of my ident, I also did a
budgeting report on what it was we were going to spend money on as well as if we
were going to go over the budget or not and what could be done about it if we did. I
also had to take into consideration what it was exactly that we would need in terms
of equipment and software that I will be using. We also did how many frames we
were going to use for each of the screen and how long a clip would be on the screen
as we needed to make sure that the ident wasnt much longer than 30 seconds.

English

Considering that the work is going to be published and is based off of people reading
it, it is vital that there is use of good English and no spelling mistakes, although word
does have spell check it docent always a) change the word to what you want it to
actually be or b) changes it to a completely different word that within the context
doesn't make any scenes. I also have to proof read my own work to make sure that it
makes sense and flows in a sentence and includes all of the information needed it all
of the planning and also in the final product. As this is important when it comes to
things like my evaluation and feedback report.
Peer reviews help as it is different people looking at your own work and it is often
that a fresh pair of eyes will be able to see mistakes that are missed by yourself
within the ident.

ICT

Most of the work that has been done through the whole process of this unit is
computer based as well as using software that I was new to when I first started.

Also my software skills have developed by doing this product as I have used software
I have worked with software I have already improved on but this has helped to
improve and develop my skills even further. Some of the planning is the only thing
that isnt computer based when it comes to the storyboards these where done on
paper, however I did need to organise some files to put all of my assets in. the main
amount of the peer feedback is how we could digitally improve the final product this
could have been by making sure that the ident was of a higher quality.

Communication

The research for what clips I was going to use for the whole of my ident. As I
discussed this with other peers so that we could make sure our ident fitted within the
client requirements.

The storyboards contain a section for us to writ so that we could communicate on

what was going to be done in detail when it came to the storyboards. As well as
storyboards I used the methods of dope sheets and brainstorms to help me design
my ident and come out with the layout along with doing research to compare other
idents.

The peer reviews where done by either writing a questionnaire and are peers
answering it or writing what we did and didn't include in the final product as well as
what I could do to make it better.

Punctuality

Punctuality is important as if you fall behind when working in a group this could
effect the final deadline. To prevent the final product being late I did multiple forms
of timelines as well as an ILP. An ILP is where you are able to keep track or what it is
you need to do as well as what you have done in the previous sessions. I also did a
Ghent chart where I am able to see what it is that I need to do as well as how long is
left till the deadline is due.

As well as know what it is that I needed to do to be able to meet the deadline it was
also important that I attended each session this meant that I didnt fall behind with
my work and if I did I would then later on spend time catching up on things that I
missed or had fallen behind on.

As well as attending sessions it is also important that through the whole of this
project I kept in mind what it is that the client actually wants from this product as we
had a client meeting so that there was an understand of what needed to be done
through this product so that the client would like it and most importantly it fitted
what they wanted, applied to the target audience they wanted as well as got the
message across that they wanted to deliver

Work-placement

Work-placement will help me to develop a number of skills as well as gaining

experience when it come to a working environment and working I a team or just
along side a number of people when it comes to personal development it will help
me develop and improve skills that I already have in an environment that I may not
be already used to, as well as teach me new skills therefore adding to a verity of
skills that I already have and making my skill set bigger as well as being interactive
with people.

Legal & ethical

Because this product is going to be broadcasted on TV this meant that I did have to
look at all of the different copyright laws and ethical considerations that I would have
to take into account when making the final product, making sure that I didnt offend
anybody as well as include people in my production from different ethnical
backgrounds.

Also when it came to the copyright I had to make sure that there is no way I could be
accused of using someone else's work and posing it as my own or just stealing
anyone else's work or if I did us someone's work I asked permissions or made sure it
was copyright free this can be done on sites like flicker where you are able to see
images that are copyright free.

Conclusion

Doing this unit has extended a number of my skills this can make me employable as
technology is always changing especially computer software this course means that I
am open to all different types of software as well as work with them and develop
products using these different forms of software as well as teaching me how
important planning is and that deadlines have to be met as well as how to dish out
the time that I have efficiently so that each aspect gets completed to the best of my
ability. Continuing with this course will only help me further and even more develop
these skills and also develop new ones along the way as I complete different units
and assignments of the course.
