Feminism
In 1960 the world of American
women was limited in almost every
aspect from family life to workplace. A
woman is expected to start a family
and devote her life in to homemaking.
The female doesnt really expect a lot
of life. The 38 percent of American
women who worked in 1960 were
largely limited to jobs as teacher,
nurse, or secretary. Women were
generally unwelcome in professional
programs as medical school. As a
result in 1960 only 6 percent of
American women were doctors three
percent were lawyers and, less than
one percent were engineers. Working
women were paid lower salaries than
men and we women were denied
opportunities advance as employees.
Back in the day women didnt have a
chance to do nothing women would
just stay home take care of the house
and kids. The feminist movement
didnt really kick off quick until the
first womens conference in Seneca
Falls, American, in 1848. Womens
movement evolved out of social
reform groups such as the Abolition of
Slavery, the Social purity and
Temperance movements. Women
began to realize that in order to
transform society they would need
their own organizations. These women
would talk about issues about infants,
property rights, divorce, and education
Mary Wollstonecraft published
one of the first feminist treatises, A
Vindication of the Rights of Woman
1792, in which she advocated the
social and moral equality of the sexes,
extending the work of her 1790
pamphlet, called A Vindication of the
Rights of Men. She was one of the first
feminist. Feminism has had significant
impacts on lives, society. The feminism
movement has been transforming and
benefiting the lives of women and girls
in the U.S. and worldwide. Feminism
has challenged and confronted social
injustices addressed the impacts of
gender, race, class, culture, nation,
religion, sexual orientation, and
disability.Now women in soceity have
to face rape in the military, marriage
equity, campus sexual assault, equal
pay for equal work and ,have to face
hate crimes. Many men around the
world see these things happening men
just dont care they just take
advantage of women without having a
care in the world. Seeing these things
happen on a day bases like a girl
getting kidnapped raped and killed
makes me upset and sick to my
stomach. Feminism groups proctive
our women rights and protest. This is
why I have such a strong support for
feminism and its not just only me its
also Beyonce, Emma Watson, Miley
Cyrus, John Legend and, Amy Poehler more stornger.
even Hillary Clinton is a feminst. I just
want other women to also be part of
this movement and make women even
