1.0 What is Photoshop?

Photoshop is Adobes photo editing, image creation and graphic design software developed and
published by Adobe System for macOS and Windows. The software provides many image-editing
features for raster (pixel-based) images as well as vector graphics. Raster graphics editing allows
user to create and edit images interactively on the computer screen and save them in one of many
bitmap or raster formats such as JPEG, PNG, GIF and TIFF whereas vector graphic editor is
mathematic-based editing using geometric formulas whereby each element is created and
manipulated numerically; essentially using Cartesian coordinates for the placement of key points,
and then a mathematical algorithm to connect the dots and define the colours.
Next, the software uses a layer-based editing system that enables image creation and altering
with multiple overlays that support transparency. Layers can also act as masks or filters, altering
underlying colours. Shadows and other effects can be added to the layers. Photoshop actions include
automation features to reduce the need for repetitive tasks. An option known as Photoshop CC
(Creative Cloud) allows users to work on content from any computer. In addition, this kind of
software is used by photographers, graphic designers, video game artists, advertising and meme
designers.

After opening a document or a picture we need to choose our preferred dimension. We need to set
the width and height of the picture and also the resolution of it. The colour mode also plays an
important role to the picture. For us we choose the width is 1200 pixels and 240 pixels for the
height. As for the resolution we put 72 pixels/ inch. The mode of colour is RGB colour and we set
the background colour is white.

5.0 Advantages & Disadvantages of Photoshop

There are pros and cons by using the Adobe Photoshop software. Firstly, for the advantage of the
Adobe Photoshop Software includes it can be used to edit the digital image application other than to
improve the quality of a photograph. Whereas in school, students can learn the Photoshop in Image
Editing classes. Thus, students can gain their knowledge on editing photograph as in increase or
decrease the brightening or the exposure.

They will be having so much fun in learning the photograph since they can explore new things in
editing classes. Secondly, the Adobe Photoshop can import videos and the photos into the software
quickly and easily. This statement can be explained as in everything will be arranged organizedly in
a neat and orderly way on the screen when we need to deal with the hundreds or thousands of
photos and videos. Thus, it will be easier to find ones we need and uses them and easy to handle
numerous videos and photos.

Last but not least, the disadvantages for the Adobe Photoshop include three where it is expensive.
This can be explained by when compared with other photo-editing software, It has so many features
and it is thus regarded as the industry standard in the graphic designing, You will spend much more
for Adobe Photoshop , If you do not plan on editing the photos every day .

Thus, Adobe Photoshop requires a well-equipped computer, It is a heavyweight program , and

many of the tools are computationally intensive , It takes up a large space of room on your
computer as well as RAM memory .

Adobe Photoshop is relatively simple to use but it is not a program designed for the beginners , It is
primarily a photo-editing program for the professionals that plan on editing many photos on a
regular basis , There are many different tools that do very different things , so , you will take long
time to learn how to use each one correctly.

6.0 Conclusion
Photoshop is tool software that provides users for editing digital images to improve the quality of
photographs. It assists artists who rely on Photoshop to make the artwork and also gives beginners
such as among students opportunity to learn photo editing. In addition, the software allows users to
manipulate, crop, resize and correct colours on digital photos. In new version such as Adobe
Photoshop CS5, it can edit animated gif, while in Photoshop extended versions it can works with
movie files and 3D objects. However, the advanced Photoshop software has its pros and cons.
Besides giving professional outlook for digital photographs, this is basically not a program designed
for the beginners even it seems relatively simple to use. Most beginners will not begin to touch the
functionality of this program, and they could get what they need from another program. Thus, many
people who are unfamiliar with editing photos in Adobe Photoshop cause the advanced
functionality will be useless for them. Nevertheless, Photoshop continues to fortify its position as
the best photo editing software around.
