Although language teachers understand that
the most significant skill for many learners may
be speaking, a distinct challenge in teaching
ESL/EFL online is working with speaking and
real-time communication. This course addresses
current capabilities in real-time voice communi-

This course begins by examining basic issues
with background readings and discussions.
We investigate how to teach listening online
