Pit Bull Promises

Pit Bulls have proven to their owners that they are great companions and amazing family

pets, even though their reputation have made them very unadoptable. Lauren, my sister, has had

Pit Bulls in her life almost her whole life, therefore all of us have always been around them.

They have never once been hurt by a dog that has Pit Bull in it. They have had better experiences

with the most vicious breed of dogs than with tiny, ankle-biting dogs. The viciousness is all

about how the owner raises the dog. If they raise them to be mean and go after other animals,

then obviously the dog will be mean and vicious. The dogs that my family have contact with

would never hurt a fly let alone a person. These kinds of dogs have no control over their

reputation, but that is how they have been brought up. One of the most confusing things that

anyone has ever heard was that at one time this breed of dogs had a reputation as Nanny Dogs,

but now they considered vicious. This breed of dog has given their owners so much happiness,

and it makes the owners upset when they are being put down every single day because of

horrible people in this world. Pit Bulls bring happiness to their owners by showing loyalty to

their owners at all times, they show constant delight everyday, and they always go right back to

having the same great qualities they had before they had gotten abused and neglected.

First, this breed has one of the most loyal qualities any dog could ever have. The personal

experiences people have had with this bred show they are loyal. If the dogs see their owner is in

danger, they will help, not because they are vicious, but because they see their loved one in

danger. In recent articles, Pit Bulls attack because they are just mean dog, which is not the case.

Pit Bulls are in the news a lot for dogfighting, even though they are against their will with that.

Michelle Douglas, a certified professional dog trainer and behavioral consultant living in West

Haven, says some owners are training dogs to be aggressive because they may be invd in ileal

activity, such as drug dealing, and need protection. (Misur 3). Most of the time, the dogs are

going to fight because their owners want them to, and they are loyal to them. Pits have shown

their owners nothing but complete loyalty, especially to the owners that my family connects with,

they have never once been bitten or attacked by one of these dogs. My family has always raised

these dogs as nice and playful pups. One of the most important things anyone has learned about

this breed was that they can never blame the dog or yell at he or she for being loyal to their

previous owners, even if it was in a dog ring or they had been fighting. Another important thing

any new owner has to learn has been that time is very important while wanting a dog to become

loyal to them. Most Pit Bull owners could never think about having another breed because of the

good experience they have had with them. My family has raised dogs from new born puppies to

grown dogs, and not one of them has ever shown aggression because of previous owners or

because of DNA.

Next, this breed of dog always shows constant delight no matter what and that has really

gotten people to fall in love with them. When the dogs are cuddly and delightful, most of the

time their owners show those same emotions. This dog has changed my life. Hes so upbeat, so

happy. Theres not a negative bone in his body. Says Williams, a Shoreline Resident. (Misur 1).

Even when Pits lay on a couch, they still sit there wagging their tails because they are such a

delightful breed. Their delightfulness happens to look like their best characteristic. The only time
Knepp 3

this breed seems like anything other than happy, is when they are not feeling well. Since they

have this great characteristic, they always want to play therefore the owners always have

somebody to play with. They seem to have the most happiness going through their bodies when

they are around kids and when they meet new people, other than their owners. Their owners

make them happy just by giving them food and petting them, they honestly do not need a lot to

have a happy life, just a loving owner. Usually the owners are just as happy as their dogs because

their delightfulness just radiates. The dogs we have owned, are always anything but sad, they

never seem to be down. This breed has always been a happy one throughout history and has

brought their owners so much happiness because of their delightfulness and playfulness and they

will continue to do that throughout the rest of life.

Finally, this breed seems to always go back to having the same great qualities they had

before they had gotten abused and neglected. When I walked up, he growled at me. Then I said

Hey, buddy and he tried to get up, I told him not to move and just started rubbing his head.

(Scarbrough 2). Pits always seem to go right back to being the loving and delightful breed they

were before they were in dogfights or abused. These dogs always become loyal to their new

owners even after having a bad former owner, they still seem to want to love on this person even

though they had traumatic experiences before. Another amazing quality this breed has, they are

able to go right back and love on humans. These days, buying a Pit Bull; means buying into a

controversy; Pit Bull owners better not be afraid of public opinion. (Cohen 1). These dogs

should not have that reputation because of what they are capable of after bad things happen to

them. Local experts who work with animals debunked some popular myths and agreed that its

not in the dogs nature to be vicious - some are bred and trained that way. (Misur 1). Proven fact

that they are brought up that way and even after that they have great characteristics and qualities
Knepp 4

after being trained to act that way. These dogs are nothing any less than amazing, and their

owners will tell you that too, especially owners that had rescued their Pits from dog fighting

rings.

Pit Bulls have given my family, including myself, amazing experiences and nothing but

happiness. Other owners can tell doubters of this breed of dog the same exact thing, these dogs

dont get a first chance, but they do get a second chance and the amazing Pit Bull owners in the

world can give them that second chance. Anyone can tell you that they think everyone in the

world should have a Pit at least once in their lives, because they have proven themselves to be

such good dogs to their owners and to kids. I hope this essay has given someone thoughts about

getting a Pit Bull in their life, because of the reasons and amazing characteristics they have that I

have given to everyone. These dogs will forever hold a special place in their owners hearts,

especially those who rescued and brought those dogs back to life.
