THE FIRST AND SECOND KEYS

OF THE AKLO UNVEILINGS

by ALLEN MACKEY

NOTE: It is widely known within the Cthulhu Mythos community

that Ramsey Campbell gave us the first hints of The Aklo Unveilings
in his early fiction. My fellow Cthulhu Mythos scholar, Daniel Harms,
noted in his Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia, third edition nicely
summed up the state of the research currently available. There are
forty-eight Aklo Unveilings used within the cult of Gla'aki; a secret
forty-ninth Aklo Unveiling occurs "when Glaaki calls his worshiper to
him for the last time." Here we present the full text of the First Key of
The Aklo Unveilings and and a partial text of the Second Key of The
Aklo Unveilings.

The First Key of The Aklo Unveilings:

Before the beginning when all was black, and after the death of the
last universe; immersed in the outer-dimensional womb. When it
coalesced like a dream, the Terrible First Thought which was
IALDABAOTH suddenly exploded like Ouranic lightning, coming
forth in an act that set black fires burning across the new flesh of the
void. In the Nameless Aeons dead and alive, as the Worm Ouroboros
bites his own tail, so do the endless spirals of time expand both
inward and outward expand forth in the procession of the equinoxes.
In all manner do the mysterious cycles of time reflect even upon other
time-cycles and repeat. In the end that shall not be the end, when the
universe has lost all its intrinsic powers of SPIN and no longer
expands outward into infinite space but instead reverses its motion
and collapses into the cold, lightless end of it all. And the light-heat
burst of energy as the rods and cones of Daoloth blindingly explode
for yet another time.

The Second Key of The Aklo Unveilings:

O Gla'aki, Thou Great One of the Night of Time! By the mysterium of

the Primal White Jelly, whose secrets it were not wise to reveal to the
profane, may one attain mastery over the lower dominions, even unto
the Elementals! They who were before those who came later, the
disincarnated entities who always frantically claw and scratch at the
Gates, desparately lustful of entering the physical bodies of Earth-
humans. The Inhuman Ones who wait to invade this universe of flesh
and blood, ever ravening for souls. This they often manage in spite of
the host's knowledge, let along permission. The unwanted riders of
humans keep to worn-out memories; the way is dim. Many are the
times that armies of spirit have waged battle, and not uncommonly
for hundreds of years at a time. Deep in the shadows, untold numbers
of just such conflicts had been fought in the Nameless Aeons ...
