Based on Clinical Appearance and Temporal Profile
1. Formerly
a. TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack)
It is a focal syndrome that reverses itself entirely and dramaticallyover a period of minutes or up
to an hour.
Duration of deficits usually 2 15 minutes. Sometimes as long as 24 h.
ABCDs of TIAs
Age > 60 = 1 pt
BP > 140/90 = 1

Divided into :
1. Smooth worsening getting worse gradually.
2. Steplike worsening stairs like progressivity (phase without improvement).
3. Fluctuating worsening progressivity period (getting worse) accompanied or started by
improvement.

c. SIE (Stroke in Evolution or progressing stroke)

A preliminary, unstable stage in stroke syndrome in which the blockage is present but the
syndrome has not progressed to the stage of completed stroke.
Stroke with neurological deficits that continue to worsen for hours or days after onset.
d. Completed Stroke
Stroke syndrome reflecting the infarction of the vascular territory that is put at risk by a stenosis
