    CommentshavebeenfiledintheVeleEIAandEnvironmentalManagementPlan(EMP).The
    stakeholdergroupaskedformoreinformationregardingtheawardingofminingrights,buttheir
    requesthastodatebeenignored.

    Howyoucanhelp
    TheEndangeredWildlifeTrustandPeaceParksFoundation,togetherwithotherinterestgroups,
    haveinstructedtheCentreforAppliedLegalStudiesattheUniversityoftheWitwatersrandinSouth
    Africatoinstitutelegalproceedingstoreviewthegrantingoftheminingrightandtotake
    appropriatestepstoseektoprevent,intheinterim,anyactivitythatmaycausesignificantand
    irreversibleharmtotheenvironmentalintegrityofthearea.Fundswillhavetoberaisedtosupport
    thelitigation.Thisislikelytobeatestcaseforminingactivityinthisarea,anditiscritical
    thatthelitigationissupportedbysufficientfunding.Additionalfundswillalsoberequiredfor
    specialistreviews,anadvocacyandmediacampaign,andvariousadministrativecosts.Tothisend,
    theEndangeredWildlifeTrustandPeaceParksFoundationhavesetupacostcodeforanyandall
    legalexpensesrelatedtotheintendeddevelopmentofacoalmineneartheMapungubweWorld
