I.- Choose one of these thesis statements and write a 600-1000 word essay in class.

1.- It is criminal to teach people not to defend themselves when they are the constant victims of brutal attacks.

2.- Violence as a way of achieving justice is both impractical and immoral, it thrives on hatred rather than love.

3.- The pursuit of truth does not permit violence on one's opponent.

4.- Violence, even well intentioned, always rebounds upon oneself.

5.- Although school violence has brought renewed intensity to debates about teachers abilities

to control it, the actual sources of school violence are student anger and aggressive behavior,

problems that demand a more proactive solution.

6.- Non-violent resistance activities cannot succeed against an enemy that is able freely to use

violence.

7.- When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the systems game; the

only thing they dont know how to handle is non-violence and humor.
