Some spiders can camouflage. Many spiders are black.
Other spiders are brown. There are spiders that are red
and yellow and black. All spiders have fangs.

Did you know that spiders live in caves? Spiders live in
groups with other arachnids. They have lived on Earth for
thousands of years. Some spiders live in water.
Sometimes spiders live in the ground. Red knee spiders
can live for over 30 years.

Food
Some spiders eat small lizards. Spiders also eat flies.
Sometimes they eat bees and ants. Most spiders eat
different types of bugs. Spiders eat everything!
Enemies
Monkeys eat spiders! Birds also eat spiders. People
stomp on spiders. Toads eat lots of small spiders. Lizards
like to eat spiders. Snakes eat spiders.

little balls at the top of their antenni. Butterflies start out
as caterpillars and can be yellow in color. Caterpillars
change into butterflies when they are in their cocoon.
Caterpillars hang upside down when they are ready to
come out to be butterflies. Some butterflies are called
Peacock Butterflies because they look like a peacock in
color. I am so glad that butterflies have 6 legs.
Habitat
Butterflies can live anywhere. Butterflies can live on trees
and grassy places. Butterflies can live in North America,
Central America, and South America. Butterflies can live
all over the world. Butterflies can live in the forest,
meadows and the desert. Not all butterflies live in the
same places. I am so glad that butterflies can fly around.

Food
Butterflies suck nectar from fallen fruit. They use their
antennae. Butterflies think the nectar is sweet and that is
why they eat it. It is hard for butterflies to find fallen fruit
sometimes.

Enemies
Butterflies dont have many enemies. Some of the
enemies are shrews, mice and birds and people. I am
glad butterflies dont have so many enemies so they can
live longer.

Butterflies wings are soft. Did you know that if birds see
orange and black butterflies they dont want to eat them.
The Monarch butterfly comes out at day like most
butterflies do. Butterflies need to protect themselves
from their enemies. Butterflies are pretty when you look
at them. You cant feel the softness on the wings because
you will take off the film and they will not be able to fly,
then they will die.

Bees build their hives in dark places, but some dont.
Bees can live in a 3 door box home for bees. Sometimes
beehives hang from trees. Lots of bees live on farms.
Bees live for 30 days. Bees can build their hives in logs
and trees. Bees take a really long time to build a home.

Nectar comes from flowers and some bees eat the
nectar. Nectar is food for the bees. They eat honey also.
They eat pollen. Sometimes bees eat the nectar from
dandelions. Food is really important for the bees because
otherwise they wouldnt survive.
Enemies
Some spiders eat bees. When they fly into the web they
get tangled then they get stuck and the spider will eat it.
When people scream they get scared because they think
we will kill them. When other animals get into their
hives, like beetles they get mad. The beetles eat the
larvae before they are hatched. Wasps also eat the larvae
before they are hatched. When other animals get in the
hive they get mad.

Bees are awesome! Did you know that the queen bee
lays over 100 eggs a day. There can only be 1 queen in
the hive, if another is born they will fight to see who will
be the new one. When bees suck all the nectar they go

point their tongues down with their front legs. There

Ah yes, spiders are a common enemy of grasshoppers.
Spiders are very great at catching this bug. Mantises eat
the heads of grasshoppers. Birds love to eat
grasshoppers. Cats chase grasshoppers. Birds will eat this
bug also.

which means they eat meat. Young ladybugs suck the
contents out oof their prey, older ones chew them up.
