Architect students get hands-on experience designing and bullding a picnic pavilion
at a national forest. Business students provide marketing consultations with small
non-profits and start-up businesses. Nursing students get hands-on experience
in developing c0untries. As part of MSU's inquiry and research-based curriculum,
every student participates in a research 0r creative experience, which makes them
better prepared for a career when they graduate.

ln 2010, private gifts generated $1.8 million in scholarships and enabled

MSU student-athletes excel on the field, in the classroom and in the community,
posting an average team GPA of over 3.0 for 17 consecutive semesters and
volunteering more than 3,000 hours in the community during the 2009-10 school
year. This hard work pays off, as evidenced by Great Falls, Mont. attorney and
former Bobcat wrestler zander Blewett ('67), His $500,000 gift will improve training
facilities and reinforce the value of hard work and a strong work ethic-characteristics
to which Blewett attributes his success.

Montana State University attracts and nurtures top scholars like Katy Hansen.
Hansen was a Presidential Scholar in high school and had considered other
universities for her undergraduate studies, but chose MSU for the quality 0f the
academic programs, professors, and extracurricular activities. Hansen excelled at
MSU and joined the growing list of students who have received some of the most
prestigious scholarships in academia, including the Rhodes, Goldwater, Marshall,
Mitchell, Boren, Udall and Jack Kent Cooke scholarships.
