Asia is Earth's largest and most popular continent. It has many different countries some
of them have been shown below. Asia uses one third of the worlds total land area. Asia
has 48 nations.

The huge continent of Asia is home to the oldest civilizations and religions in the world.
Asia contains huge, empty deserts, as well as some of the world's highest mountains
and longest rivers. The ten largest malls in the world are only found in Asia.

Asia is rich in diverse races, cultures, and languages. Many of the world's major
religions came out of Asia including Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and
Buddhism. Countries such as Russia, China, Japan and India produce products and
services that are used by every nation in the world. Asia is also abundant in natural
resources. Oil in the Middle East is a major supplier of much of the world's energy.
The highest point on earth, Mount Everest, is in Asia. The lowest point on land, the
Dead Sea, which is also in Asia.

Asia is home to many interesting animals including the giant panda, Asian elephant,
tiger, Bactrian camel, komodo dragon, and the king cobra. China and India are the two
largest countries in the world by population. China is number one with over 1.3 billion
people. India is number two with over 1.2 billion. The third largest country in the world,
the United States, only has just over 300 million people.

India is one of the countries in Asia. Indians speak in the language gujarati and hindi.
India belongs to the continent of Asia. It is bordered by the countries of Bangladesh,
Bhutan, Burma, China, Nepal, and Pakistan. Because of India's location, heavy rain
called Monsoon occurs. India has the second largest population in the world, with over
1.2 billion people. The most popular sport in India is cricket, with the Indian team being
the first to win the Cricket World Cup when they were victorious in 2011. The national
symbol of India is the endangered Bengal Tiger. India became an independent nation in
1947 after ending British rule that began in 1858. The capital city is New Delhi, while the
most populated city is Mumbai. Other major cities include Kolkata, Chennai and
Bangalore.

This landmark in India is called the Taj Mahal.

An immense building made of white marble, built in Agra between 1631 and 1648 by
order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favourite wife, the Taj Mahal
is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces.

Many times, locations are named for people. Ferdinand Magellan landed in the
Philippines in 1521, claiming the islands for King Philip II of Spain. In 1521 the first
European to arrive was Ferdinand Magellan from Portugal. He claimed the land for
Spain, but was killed on the island when trying to resolve an argument between
two local tribes.

The Philippines belonged to Spain until 1898, when it was given to the United States.

When the Spanish government ruled the Philippines, it made a rule that all people must
have Spanish last names.

The Chocolate Hills are a group of unusually shaped hills in the middle of the island of
Bohol in Philippines. This landscape is unique to this small island. The mystery of how
the Chocolate Hills were made is unknown.

Japanese food have become popular around the world. Some well-known dishes are
sushi, sashimi and tempura.

Japan is home to many different martial arts .A few of them are Karate, Judo, Sumo,
Ninjutsu, Kendo, Jujutsu, and Aikido.

Some of the most well-known companies in the world are Japanese such as Toyota,
Honda, Sony, Nintendo, Canon, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Sharp.

Sumo is recognized as the national sport of Japan, although the most popular spectator
sport is baseball.

Japan is a world leader in robotics. Japanese engineers are known for producing a
range of human-like robots like ASIMO.

Japan hosted the 1964 Summer Olympic games in Tokyo and will again in 2020. They
also hosted the 1972 and 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo and Nagano.
Almost three quarters of Japan's land is either forest or mountains and is difficult to be
made into farms.

Japanese is the official language of Japan.

The kinkaku-ju is one of the most popular buildings in Japan, attracting a large number
of visitors.

Mount Fuji is one of the most


recognizable natural features of Japan.
