Who is Yo Yo Ma?

Yo Yo Ma is a world famous cellist and songwriter


Hes produced dozens of albums
Hes won more than 15 Grammy Awards
Where He Was Born

Yo Yo Ma was born on October 7, 1955


He was born in Paris, France
Younger Years

His father was a composer and music teacher


His mother was a singer
At age 3 he was taking violin lessons
At age 4 he began playing the cello
By age 5 he memorized three suites of J.S. Bachs pieces

At the age of 7 Yo Yo Ma and his family moved to New York City


At this age Ma was already one of the most famous classical musicians in the
world
Ma attended Julliard School in New York City
He enrolled at Harvard at the age 16
He graduated in 1976 with a liberal arts degree
