Key Vocabulary from the Article (Define at least 4).

o Ballistic - Of or relating to projectiles or their flight.

o Barrage- A concentrated artillery bombardment over a wide area.

o Detonated - Explode or cause to explode

o Miniaturized - Make on a smaller or miniature scale

Summary of the Event (at least 3 major points; each point will have its own paragraph)
North Korea has been making many devices for awhile now that last once made

was almost a decade ago involving the same materials but four times stronger than the

last one there are improving on the last one made.

On September 9, 2016 North Korea conducted a fifth underground nuclear test.

It had been the first test since almost a decade ago making it common for earthquakes to
occur. Which means that the devices are becoming more powerful than ever. The device

had a force equivalent of ten kilotons of TNT. The last device they tested had an

equivalent force of 6 kiloton of TNT. South Korean, American and Japanese officials

want to determine if North Korea is capable of building a miniaturized nuclear device

that can be but on a ballistic missile and successfully detonated at a target hundreds, if

not thousands, of miles from the launch site. In the past decade, South Korean and

American experts have said that the North appears to be closer to achieving that goal.

Your Opinion of the Event (at least 3 sentences).

In my opinion this event is very dangerous for every person. North Korea can

harm many people in the future if they keep creating this nuclear blast especially if

they're getting stronger and you never know what they could be used for now or possibly

in the future. There idea is life threatening because we do not know it what way they are

planning to use it especially since they have been causing many earthquakes in the site

area. This should alarm the U.S.A to keep an eye and make sure they don't do anything

ridiculous with a blast that powerful or maybe 10 times powerful in the future.

Relate your Event to a Historical Event (compare and contrast with current event).

This isn't the first time this has happened on Oct. 8, 2006 they tried the same

thing, but a decade ago the nuclear device had the force of 4 kilotons of TNT , this year it

had a force of 10 kilotons of TNT that's for times more than the last project. United

States officials said at the time that the weapon used plutonium and had a yield of less
than one kiloton. Three months before the nuclear test North Korea launched a barrage

of missiles, including a Taepodong 2 that was designed to reach Alaska, but was a failure

missile falling into the sea before its first stage burned out.

I believe that I can ralet this event to Cultural Interaction- Science and

Technology because this is new technology they are making and finding new ways to

make it better and it is technology that they are making and improving. Though it can be

very dangerous for other states around the launch area, because those earthquakes may

only get stronger. Itr may also be Economic structures because there is a good amount

of money going into those devices every time and in a way it might even have something

to do with Global Warming .

Questions You Have About the Event (4).

1). Why would the United States allow this nuclear device.

2). Why is it that these nuclear devices have been causing many earthquakes in that

launch area.

3). Is the United States working with them the make these devices.

4). What are their real intentions towards making this device.
