III. PROCEDURE

A. Preparatory Activities
1. Daily Routine
Teachers Activity
Pupils Activity
Everybody please stand. And let us pray.
Ellen Joy please lead the prayer.

(Pupils will pray)

Good morning class!

Good morning maam, good morning

classmates, good morning.
Before you take your seats, please pick some pieces of
paper under your chairs.

(pupils will follow)

Look at your seatmates, who is absent today?

None maam.
Im glad that all of you are here.

2. DRILL
Class, we will be having a mental computation, all you
have to do is to answer the question orally.
Did you understand?

Yes maam
Give me a number that is..
One more than 9.

Maam 10
Give me a number that is..
One more than 99.
Maam 100
Give me a number that is
One more than 999.

One more than 9,999.
Maam 10,000
Give me a number that is
one more than 99,999
Maam 100,000
Very good!

3. REVIEW
Before we proceed to our new lesson, as our review I
will group the class into three groups. Each group
should be able to choose their leader. I have here a small
envelop together with your task. You are going to solve
the assigned problem to your group.
Is it clear? Yes maam!

But, before you start your activity, what should you do if

theres a group activity?
Maam we need to cooperate with our
group mates.

Very good!
What else? Maam we do our task silently.

Very good!
You may start now.

For group1
Complete the second and third clock.
Addition

3+4=7 5+8 = 1 2+7 =?

For group 2
Complete the Second and third clock
Subtraction
10-8=2 10-10=12 10-11=?

For group 3
Complete the second and third clock
Multiplication

2x4=8 5x3=3 4x7=?

Are you done class?

Yes Maam!
Group 1 please posts your work?
(The group 1 will posted their work)
Look at the work of group1, is this correct?
Yes maam
Very good!
The second and third clock is in correct hand position.
Now, let us call on the group 2.
(The group 2 will posted their work)
Look at the work of group 2, is this correct?
Yes maam
Very good!
The second and third clock is in correct hand position.
The last but not the least group 3 please posts your
work.
(The group 3 will posts their work)
Look at the work of group 3, is this correct?
Yes maam
Very good!
4. MOTIVATION
Do you have appliances at home?
Yes Maam.
What appliances do you have at home, Maria Fe?
Electric fan.
What else, Melvin?
Television.
What else, Trexie?
Refrigerator.
What makes this appliances work?
Maam because of electricity.
Very good!
Do you know how much electricity your household
consumed, Jesyra?
Yes maam!
Very good!

B. LESSON PROPER
1. Presentation
Again, we will have a group activity. I will group the
class into four groups. All you have to do is to observe
the different dials of electric meter. I will distribute an
example of a dial

For group 1
For group 2

For group 3

Maam each dial of electric meter has a

pointer.

Maam it has a number

Maam it has an arrow outside the dial

Maam the number of a dial is only 0-9.

Yes maam
For group 4 .

What did you observe to the dial of electric meter,

Group1?
Very good!
How about you group 2, What did you observe to the
dial of electric meter?

5634 first reading

Very good! 5554 previous reading
Group 3, What did you observe to the dial of electric
meter?

Maam how many kilowatt-hours.

Very good!
How about you group 4, What did you observe to the
dials of electric meter? Consumed

Very good!
Do you know how to find the electric consumption? How many kilowatt-hours were used?

Very good!
Okay, let us find the electric consumption of Matipid Maam subtracts the previous months
family. reading from present months reading.
(The teacher
Thepresents
Matipid the wordmonitors
family problemclosely
and let the
student read it.)consumption. This month, the
their electric
reading on their dial is 5634, last month it was
5554. How many kilowatt-hours were
consumed?
Maam subtraction.

5634 present reading

- 5554 previous reading
2. DISCUSSION 80 kwh

What are the given in the problem, Mel Jun?

Maam Matipid family consumed 80kwh

this month.
Very good!
Base from this problem, what is the clue in finding the
answer?

Very good!
What else?
Present reading

Very good! 1000s 100s 10s 1s

What is asked in the problem, Ellen?

Very good!
How do you find the answer, Cyrus? Previous reading

1000s 100s 10s 1s

Very good!
What operation should we use in finding electric
consumption, John Rey?

Ma'am we read from left to right.

Very good!
Who can go to the board and solve the problem?
Yes Jesyra?

Maam 5634
Very good!
How many kilowatt-hours were consumed by the
Matipid family, Edralyn?

Maam 5554

Very good!
Lets interpret the electric meter reading of Matipid
family by using dials. From the present reading, what
number in the thousands, the hundredths, the tenths and Maam if the dials move very fast that
the once? means there are many appliances being
used.
Who can draw the pointers as given in the problem?
Yes Wailyn?

Maam we should turn off the appliances

Maam to conserve energy and to lessen the

bill that we pay.

How do you read the electric consumption?

Very Good! Yes maam

(Teacher let the pupils to read the previous and present

reading of Matipid family.)
What is the present reading of Matipid family, Edralyn?

Very good!
What is the previous reading of Matipid family, Expected answer:

Ronnelyn?
3972 kwh
- 3883 kwh
Very good! 89 kwh

If the pointers in the dials move very fast, what does it

mean?

Very good!
What should you do to save electricity, Maicel?

Very good!
Why should we conserve the electricity?
Very good!

3. Fixing Skills
We will have a group activity. I will group the class into
three groups each group should choose their leader. I
have here an envelope together with your task. All you
have to do is to answer the assigned task to your group. I
will give five minutes to do your task.
Did you understand class?

For group 1
On September the previous reading of an electric
meter of Magaling family was 3883 kwh and on
October the reading of an electric meter was
3972 kwh. How many kwh did they consume?

For group 2
Write the meter readings.

1.

2.

Yes Maam!

3.
Maam electric meter

electric meter has a pointers

4.

5.
Maam we read the dials of electric meter
from left to right and from the numbers
passed by the pointers.
Maam we subtract the previous reading

6. Generalization
Did you understand the things that we have tackled this
morning?

Again, What do we call to the device that can measure

Yes Maam!
our electricity consumed, Lelanie?

Very good!
How can you describe the electric meter? Maam we need to cooperate with our
group mates.

Very good!
Maam we must do our task silently.
How do you read the dials of electric meter?

Very good!
How do you find the number of kilowatt-hour
consumed?

Yes Maam!

Very good!
(pupils will do the task)

7. Application
We will have a group activity. This time, I will
group the class into three groups. The group from the
right will be the group 1 and from the center will be the
group two and from the left will be the group 3.
Each group will give an envelope together with
your task. You are going to perform the assigned task to
your group.
Is it clear?

But, before the group activity, what should you do first?

Yes Junalyn?

What else, Nelmar?

Very good!

Now, do what you have said. I will give you five

minutes to do your assigned task. If you have done just
say Yes were done!
Is it clear?

Your time start now.

For group 1
Study the table and compute the KWH used.

(Group 1 and group 3 will stand and give
Onyok Clap to group 2.)
Groups 1 please present your work.

Do the work of group1 is correct? (The group 3 will present their work)

Group 2 and group 3 please stand and give Drivers

Yes Maam!
clap to group 1.

Now, let us call on group 2 to present their work. (Group 1 and group 2 will stand and give
aling Dionisia clap.

Do the work of group 2 is correct?

Group 1 and group 3 please stand and give Onyok

clap to group 2.

The last but not the least group 3 please presents your
work.

Do the work of group 3 is correct?

Group 1 and group 2 please stand and give aling

Dionisia clap to group 3.
