UNIT 54 Digital Graphics Checklist

Evidence needed in the table below.

Range Evidence / Screen-shot / Explanation

Work area The work are for my digital graphics are mainly on Photoshop
and on the program, it shows the main stage, which is where
the graphics will be completed. The work area includes the
command menus at the top of your screen, the window
containing the image you are editing, and a variety of tools and
palettes that let you edit images and add elements such as
masks, layers, and channels. You can also add commands and
filters to the menus by installing plug-in modules, software
programs designed to extend the functionality of Adobe
Photoshop.

Toolbox You select a variety of tools from the Toolbox by clicking on the
icons. Within each type of tool, you can select "hidden" tools
by dragging the tool to the side or by pressing on the icon until
the hidden options drop to the side. See examples below.

To view the Toolbox Go to Window > Show Tools.

Selecting Tools:
These tools allow you to select areas in various different
ways. Drawing tools and commands only work in selected
areas. If no area is selected, tools and commands will work
anywhere on the document.
Status bar The status bar is located between your photograph and the
project bin/photo bin.

On the left, there's the magnification of your photograph.

To the right, current information about the photograph is
displayed. The displayed information can be changed by
clicking the small black triangle. I used this to make sure that all
of my assets were correct and if they did not save.

File information The file information is very important to this assignment

because I need to know the information of the files so this
could be that the file size and what sort of file it is for example
PNG or PSD which is a Photoshop file. The PNG allows you to
use it as an image and import it to programs and then shows it
transparent. The Info panel shows the color values beneath the
pointer and, depending on the tool in use, gives other useful
information. The Info panel also displays a hint on using the
selected tool, gives document status information, and can
display 8-bit, 16-bit, or 32-bit values.
Tool option bar This bar is located right underneath the menu line. The options
bar is context sensitive, it changes as different tools are
selected. You can move the options bar from its default
location to anywhere in the work area. To display the tool
options bar do one of the following: Choose Window > Show
Options.

Palette well; palettes helped me customize how the tools in the toolbox
perform. For example, you might "sharpen" (make the line
thin) or "dull" (make the line thick) your pencil tool using the
"Brushes Palette". Palettes also help you perform some of the
more complex tasks such as layering or manipulating complex
colour schemes.

Save Saving all of my work is very important especially to this
project because if I do not save my graphics I will have to redo
them so it could damage the graphics. Every 10 minutes I made
sure, I saved the work but after this I finished I made sure I
kept the original PSD file, which allows me to change anything
if I wanted to. I also saved the file as a PNG, which makes the
graphic into an image so I can transfer it to other programs.
Undo The undo tool helped quite a lot because when creating the
graphics I did some mistake so with having an undo tool to
undo the task I did really helped me. The undo tool is in the top
left of the screen or there is an option to do it on the keyboard.

Palettes (colour, layers, The palettes of Photoshop give me access to groups of related
objects, brushes, tools. So if youre focusing on color, you can pull up the color
history, actions, size, palette and enliven your Photoshop images with a rainbow of
resolution); shades.
There is different instructions which can peform types of
palletes.

Tools (marquee, lasso, Magic Wand Tool

magic wand, magnetic The magic wand tool is similar to the magnetic polygon lasso
lasso, selecting, tool except that rather than dragging to make a selection, you
cropping, clone tool) click in a region and a selection appears around similar colored
pixels. You can control how similar pixels must be to be
included in the selection by altering the tolerance value.
This tool is useful for selecting monochromatic regions or
pieces of high-contrast images.
I used this tool to delete the rest of image I didnt want in the
logo for example. This is a great tool to use when creating
graphics.
Gradient tool
I used this to make a graduation of colors. Gradiation does not
appear to be a word. It creates a blending of your foreground
color and background color when you click and drag it. Like a
gradient.

Layers (transforming A new image has a single layer. The number of additional
layers, copying and layers, layer effects, and layer sets i can add to an image is
saving layers, arranging limited only by your computers memory.
layers, opacity and
blending modes, layer My work with layers in the Layers panel. Layer groups help you
effects) organize and manage layers. You can use groups to arrange
your layers in a logical order and to reduce clutter in the Layers
panel.

Changing the opacity on the different layers helped me define

what part of the image I wanted for example I changed the
opacity of the background so the text could stand out.
Manipulation Selecting a path component or path segment displays all of the
(feathering edges, anchor points on the selected portion, including any direction
filters, brightness and lines and direction points if the selected segment is curved. I
contrast, hue and used this quite frequently in Photoshop and also using different
saturation, masks, textures for example on my logo
paths, textures, effects);

I added a texture overlay on my text to make it look more

professional.
