Claremont Colleges natural laboratory in the
last five years.
Thursdays incident brought 12 fire engines, one wa-
ter tender, four camp crews and three helicopters from the
Los Angeles County Fire Department, according to
Claremont police.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but As-
sistant Fire Chief Jim Enriquez intimated that it could be
man-made, claiming that evidence of illegal fireworks were
found at the burn site.
It still remains under investigation, but theres a high
level of confidence its human caused, Assistant Chief
Enriquez told the city council at Tuesday nights meeting.
City Manager Tony Ramos and Assistant City Manager
Colin Tudor stood with officers from the Claremont Po-

police effort.
Police kept Mills Avenue and Foothill Boulevard
open to cars, Sgt. DeMetz explained, but access to the

its a stand-alone neighborhood hardware store and

And thats not all. Claremonter Matt Moraga leases
a small outdoor space for the Wildwood Nursery,
which offers native plants, fruit trees and free range

Its sort of the opposite of walking into the massive

racks stocked floor-to-ceiling but nary an employee in
sight.
