I have not written any explanations yet. My average grade
on a homework is an A-. I haven't really worked on this I think a better goal would be in the area of FabLab
goal that much. because that is what got my grade down.

I plan to write an explanation this week. I will need to We haven't done a lab report in awhile. We have been

As you can see in the picture above of the explanations Since I we are working on the "Hot dog Mummy Project",
on the note cards, I have been working on explaining. I I think we might be writing a procedure for that project as
have also learned to use diagrams to explain my work. In well, so if we do, I will write one, and have it graded.
this problem, we had to match up diagrams with word
problems and equations. Then we had to explain how the
problem works. My next steps are to do this more often
and give better explanations on my school work. As you
can see in the picture with the explanation, I don't do a
very good job explaining. I just say the answer. My next
steps for this are to spend more time on explanations.

As you can see in the pictures of my learning logs above,
I have been working on my explanations. The two
examples I have above are of an explanatory one and
step by step one. I have gured out that these two are the
best at explaining things. The rst one, and explanatory
one, works because you are explaining why it works. The
second one, the step by step one, works because you are
explaining your steps one by one in order for the reader
to understand how to do what you are explaining. In the
future I plan to do more explanations like this. I will also
do more learning logs like this. My other next steps is to
learn how to explain a picture or a diagram and why that
picture or diagram works or how it works.

In the picture above, you can see that I have been
working on explaining more in my homework. The math
problem question was asking, " Write a sentence
explaining how many of each type of tile you have." I
responded with a paragraph explaining how I got my
answer as well as how many of each tile there was. In the
one above that problem, the question was, "If the algebra
tiles were rearranged into a different shape, how would
the area change?". I answered this with an explanation
why the area wouldn't change instead of just saying, "No".
I think the reason it is harder to do this in class is because
if the question doesn't ask for an explanation, I usually
don't have time to write explanation. My next steps are to
have more conversation in my math group that helps me
explain the problem to my group mates. We did very little
of this yesterday.

I have branched off of just doing written explanations and
now I am doing spoken explanations. We had a project
called "Jill's Walk to School". We had to create a poster
and explain our reasoning through a spoken explanation.
I had to explain how I got my answer. I had to answer
other peoples' questions as well. In the future I will work
on writing explanations on my team test and individual
test.

As you can see in the picture above of my science grade,
we have been working on our Costa Rica ecosystems
project. At rst I thought that this wouldn't count because
it isn't a lab, but then I realized that I had to keep
explaining how I got things and what things were and how
you can help them. This is kind of like a procedure, but it
more explaining. You can see from my grades that I did a
good job because I got 100% on both of them. This
means that Ms. Sanlippo could understand my work
clearly just like she would use my procedure to
understand what I was doing. In trimester 3 I think we will
work more on our labs, so I will work more on this goal
then.

As you can see in the picture of my cook book above, I
have been working on my procedures. I didn't notice it at
rst, but I actually that realized that since I wanted to write
these cooking things down, I did a decent job. I think it is
very important in cooking to have a very good procedure.
Also, as you can see in the Bordalaise sauce recipe
above, I included notes. My dad says that every good
scientist takes notes, so he encourages me to write notes
on what worked and what didn't work.

As you can see in the screenshot above of my science
procedure, I am working on writing lengthy explanations. I
actually wrote this with Matthew, Roger, and Noah who
were all in my science group for the Weather and Water
Lab.

By the end of the year, I will have read 2 ction, 3
non-ction science, 3 non-ction history, and 2
fantasy books and write a review for them.
MEANS of EVALUATION:
As my means of evaluation, I will have the printed
copies of my reviews. They will be the ones that I
think are best. I will also show the class
the titles of the books. I will have a different genre
recording on her
Biblionasium every week. I will have at least 1
review per every genre she reads. I will have at
least 10 reviews by the end of the year. Each log
will have at least 200 words in it.

So I have to write reviews for 2 Non-Fiction History
books, but I have already read 2 books so I should have
that done soon. I still need to nd Non-Fiction Science
books and write reviews for them.

I haven't been reading a lot lately. I still need to do more
reviews. My next step is to go to the library and get 3 non-
ction science/history. Then I have to read and write a
report for each of them.

library, but I will do that very soon. I think that I will read
more try to read more of the Who was Where was When
was and What was books because those are
informational and very fun to read.

I think that this goal is going really well. I have already
recorded, "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". And this
Sunday, I will record "Arabian Nights" and "Beauty and
the Beast". I will also start playing, "Never Smile at a
Crocodile" from Peter Pan. So I am about 4/8 of the way
done or 1/2 way done.

Learning songs has been postponed for a little bit
because there is a consort coming up and my sisters and
I always sing and dance, so I have been focusing on
learning my part and learning my song for the consort

on the song reection. This is the song I will do for the
consort. It needs a little bit more work, but I think I can do
it. I will try to record this by next Sunday.

My piano teacher and I have decided that we will go over
8 songs and do ten songs. I think that this is going to be
kind of hard because one of my songs is very hard.

As you can see in the picture above of one of my reading
challenges, I have been working on my reading. I have
read then entire Series of Unfortunate Events. I have only
written a review for one of them. I am not completed with
it, but I am mostly done. It is for the rst book the bad
beginning.

As you can see in the picture above of the "Who Was"
books, I have read three of them which makes only non
ction science left for me to read. I think that I can get
books at the library for this. I also read the entire Harry
I have completed my goal. I have done eight songs, and
recorded them. My next steps are to get the songs onto
my Dropbox, and down load them onto good drive so I
can present my songs at the end of the year. I am
practicing "Part of Your
World" from the little mermaid right now and I might
record it, even though it is 8 pages long. Next year, I think
that I will do something else piano wise like the 100 song
challenge, but not Disney songs again. I feel like with the
Disney songs going on, I didn't get to do a lot of theory
and my piano skills are kind of behind.
