1.0 OBJECTIVES

1.1 To lessen the suffering, Prevent added or further injury or danger to a victim

symptoms, & helath status

to the minor illness.

2.0 SCOPE

First-aid provision in the workplace covers the arrangements that the Company
needs to manage injuries or illness suffered at work that include:

1. Sufficient and appropriate equipment and facilities for the rendering of first-aid
to its employees if they are injured or become ill at work;

2. Sufficient and appropriate numbers of suitable persons for the rendering of


this first-aid.
3. The nurse will collect a client history of present illness and complete a nursing
assessment that is appropriate to the specific complaint. This may be a
limited assessment for minor complaints. However, the nurse will use good
judgement in observing for signs of more serious illness and will expand her
assessment as indicated.

6.1 Procedure Details

Wounds Asses the minor wounds, Clean the wound with soap and water or mild antiseptic,
Cover the wound with dressing or bandage.
Burns
Assessing the severity of a burn; Cover the area wit dry or sterile gauze, Monitor Vital Signs
Recognizing whether a burn is thermal, scald, or chemical and the appropriate first aid;
flood the area with water immediately& Apply ointment if available.

Temperature Extremes
Exposure to cold, Warm the client by a blanket, Place the client on humidify air, Monitor the
vital signs.
Exposure to heat, First positioning Elevated feet, Place cool Environment & Cold Compress if
shivering or convulsion not noted,Give electrolyte beverages (Gatorade,juices & pedalyte) &
Monitor the client Responsiveness.
Musculoskeletal Injuries
Sprains, strains; REST,Cold Compress and Hot Compress & Elevate
Eye injuries
First aid for chemical burns. Wash with Water base on the severity

Wounds
Assement for the characteristictics of severe wounds, amputations and crush injuries; Applied
direct pressure to bleeding site, Cover with dressing and bandage, Monitor for possible danger
related to shock &Refer to Medical Assistance
Burns
. Recognizing whether the burn is thermal,chemical,electrical:
Stop burning Process,Cover the burned area with dry sterile guaze and non adhesive dressing,
Monitor the Vital signs,Evaluate the need for CPR or Rescue Breathing (electrical unconscious)
Temperature Extremes
Exposure to cold; Monitor the vital sings of the client, Include the use of warm blanket, Continue
monitoring the Airway, Breathing & Circulation during transport to Emergency Hospitals.
Heat exhaustion; Heat Stroke
Musculoskeletal Injuries
Fractures; Immobilize the affected area, Applied for the need of splint and proper bandage
Eye injuries
First aid for eye injuries; Cover it with plastic Cap
Bites and Stings
Human and animal bites; Wash on a flushing water, Advise the need antirabies injection,
Bites and stings from insects; instruction in first-aid treatment of anaphylactic shock.
