31/03/17 To brainstorm In this class, my group discussed and did -
ideas as well as some research about the guinea pig. With the
come up with combination of researches we did, we have
research agreed to do an experiment on how types of
questions for food may affect the guinea pigs learning
this project. ability differently. The types of food that will
be included in our experiment are fresh food
such as hay and vegetables, and pellets food.
As we were able to come up with the research
questions, which are Will the different types
of food affect the ability for a guinea pig to
learn how to run a maze? and Will the
guinea pig learn faster if it eats grass hay
instead of pellets?, our goal that we set in the
beginning of the class have completed. So, in
the next class, our group will be focusing on
finding information about the research
questions as well as start working on the
background research.

feed, since the high amount of fiber contained

guinea pigs, pellet food is also important in
their diet. This is because pellets could
prevent guinea pigs from experiencing an
imbalance of vitamins, minerals, as well as
nutrients. The information I have found today
are very useful as it can be used in the next
step of work, which is further researches.

24/04/17 To continue In this class, we distributed different jobs to


working on the everyone in the group in order to complete the
background proposal. For my job, I have to work on the
research and ethical/humane statement and some parts of
proposal. the literature review. I started by researching
some information about things not to do when
petting the guinea pigs. I also began to
combine those information into paragraph
form. Thus, I will finish the ethical/humane
statement and start working on the other parts
of the proposal.
25/04/17 To continue In todays class, I continued to work on the
working on the proposal. I asked Ms. Charlie to check the
proposal. proposal and I have learned that there are
some parts of the introduction and
experimental procedure that need to be
changed. I spent most of the time editing both
of those parts. I also tried to add more ideas
and expand the information in the
introduction Yet, the work was not completed
within the class, so I planned to work on it in
next class.
01/05/17 To discuss about In this class period, we talked about how we
guinea pigs will construct the guinea pigs maze and what
cage and maze. materials we will use. We discussed about
where we will buy the cage and other
equipment such as water bottles and food
bottles. By this, we agreed to go and buy the
materials together on Monday after school.
We also revised our proposal outline in which
will be submitted by tonight. Revising the
proposal again allowed us to make
corrections for some parts of the work as well
as help us to know what mistakes we have
made.
02/05/17 To discuss about Since I was not in todays class, I had to catch
guinea pigs and up some of the works that my friends have
the cages. done. They told me that they did some budget
research on the guinea pigs and the cages.
The cost for both guinea pigs and the cages
may be approximately about 5600-6000 baht.
This cost will be divided by 5, so everyone
will have to pay about 1120-1200 baht. As
my friends have found the information about
the budget, I did some more research about
what additional equipment needed to be
bought for the guinea pigs so we can all buy
the materials all together on Monday.
08/05/17 To discuss about Due to the problem of not being able to get
the experiment. the guinea pigs before this Monday, our
group has to rearrange and plan our
experiment all over again. We planned to start
working on the maze in next class and finish
them by this weekend. By this, it will enable
us to focus on only counter conditioning and
training the guinea pigs once they have
arrived. We also agreed to reduce the amount
of time used for training the guinea pigs since
the time is quite limited. The amount of
training time will be reduced from seven days
to five days. At the end of this class, we have
accomplished our goal by discussing to each
other and talking to the guinea pigs seller.
09/05/17 To start Our group spent the whole class working on
constructing the the maze. We distributed the work and help
maze. each other to complete different parts in
which will be combined later. I started to do
my part by cutting the cardboard for the base.
I, then helped to tape with rim of the base.
The maze was not fully complete, yet we will
continue to work on it in tomorrow class as
well as in our own time.
11/05/17 To continue Our group continued to work on constructing
constructing the our maze. Since the size of the cardboard base
maze. is quite small, we had to resize and redraw the
Tolmans maze design. After that, we started
to cut the cardboard into small pieces to build
up the walls of the maze. The work, however,
was not done in todays class. So, we agreed
to meet up on Friday and continue
constructing the maze.
17/05/17 To start training After allowing the guinea pigs to settle down
the guinea pigs. and get use to their new cages a couple of
days, we started to work on our projects
following the timeline. We, at first, placed the
guinea pig that eats only vegetables onto the
maze and allow them to stay in there for 10
minutes. It did move around but did not reach
the end of the maze. The second one,
however, did not move at all when was placed
in the maze. We decided to continue doing
the same process in tomorrows class in order
to not put too much stress on the guinea pigs.
18/05/17 To continue The same process was repeated again in this
training the class. Both of the guinea pigs were placed in
guinea pigs. the maze. While the guinea pig that eats only
vegetables made some improvements, the
other guinea pig was still afraid and did not
move. We used some vegetables to try and
get him move, yet the guinea pig only move
a few steps. Since no improvements were
made in the guinea pig that eats pellets, our
group will have to work harder on training it
in next class.
19/05/17 To continue We continued working on the guinea pigs
training the training lesson. The guinea that eats only
guinea pigs. vegetables, again, have made some
improvements. He could run to the exit, but it
took him quite a long time to figure out that
there were a lot of lettuce at the end. This
guinea pig did not show any signs of frighten
at all and it was active most of the time.
However, the other guinea pig did not make
any move although there were lettuces in
front of his face. By this, we planned to leave
the guinea pig that eats only pellets in the
maze for half an hour without anyone doing
anything to him later on. This may help to
diminish his fear that he has toward the maze.
24/05/17 To conduct an After training the guinea pigs for a couple of
experiment on days, an experiment is needed to be
the guinea pigs conducted in order to finalize the project. We
by letting them placed the guinea pigs, one at a time, into the
run in the maze. T-Shaped maze. Then, we placed them into
another groups maze (this maze has a very
narrow pathway). After that, we put them
back into our T-Shaped maze, in which we
could recognized some improvements that
were made among the two guinea pigs.
During the three trials, we recorded the
videos that shows how the guinea pigs walk
differently in each trial.
25/05/17 To start editing Continuing from what we did yesterday, we
the video. looked through each video that was recorded.
Then, we transferred the videos into Atoms
computer to start editing the final video for
this project. We also looked through the
rubric for the final products and discussed
what are needed to be done for the video.
After looking through the projects rubric, we
started to combine the videos together and
started to write the script for different parts.
The video was not completed, so we will
continue working on it in tomorrows class
after the quiz.
26/05/17 To finish editing We continued working with the video from
the video. yesterday. As some of our group member
worked on the script over last night, it was
done and was ready for us to start recording
our voice. By the end of the class, we were
able to finish editing our video as well as
doing voice over. So, over the weekend our
group will individually work on our personal
reflection. We will also complete our e-
portfolio by adding all the work for this
project and publish them onto the website.
