Subject: Information Technology
Teacher: Marco Marchant
Year Level: 1
1. Lesson Objective:
Students will be able to identify that technology is
not only computers, iPods and iPads but a whole
myriad of things such as cars, washing machines,
etc. They will also share their experience with
technology and how it can break down.
2. Instructions:
Ask students sit on the ground at the front of
the class ask them to give examples of
technology as they believe what it is.
Ask them why they think that particular object
is called technology.
Show them a piece of technology in the
classroom such as the projector and ask them
how that can be technology.
Prompt them to think of technology as
something that is created by man for a specific
purpose.
Ask them to give more examples of devices
they believe to be part of technology.
Ask them to think about some of the examples
they have given and what happens when they
break down.
Ask them why they actually break down.
3. Assessment:
Ask students to use the computers to find pictures
of technology in KidPix and print it out with their
name on it. An extension would be to create
another picture showing things that dont really
break down because God is in control them. Eg.
Sea life, trees and flowers, the weather, animals.
4. Biblical Principles:
As discussion continues, point students to the fact
that just about every piece of technology we know
about eventually breaks down because we are
imperfect creators. The imperfection came about
the fall of man through Adam. Everything that man
creates is breakable. What is not breakable is the
Power of God to create all things perfect. The only

perfect being is God himself and he demonstrated
that by sending his perfect son to die for us,.
5. Biblical Integration:
For students at this level it is important to use at
least two key verses in the Word of God which
demonstrates that man is fallible and imperfect.
Romans 3:23. Explain this verse by saying that
we are not able to reach God.
Also give them an example of the tower of
Babel and their use of technology to reach God.
Making bricks by hand is using technology.
Genesis 11 gives an interesting example that
people did not use stone.
6. Biblical Lesson Objective:
Students identify that technology is anything that
man creates. God is the Creator and everything he
made was good and perfect. Mans disobedience
caused this percent creation to become imperfect,
hence everything that man creates has flaws. It is
impossible for man to reach full perfection even
though students see that things work well for a
while. Everything breaks down after a while. It
might be interesting to ask students what they
believe is something that doesn't not break down.
Responses may involve some of Gods creation
such as plants and ecosystems which man has
nevertheless broken.

sophisticated piece of technology. The idea is that it
shows kids how creative we can be, just the way
God created us.
