Day1
Date: 03/31/2017

Goal: Brainstorming and discussing about the topic of the experiment and also some
details to create the experiment as well.

Reflection: For today, in our group, we brainstorm and come up with the question that
will conduct the experiment already. Our topic is which gender of guinea pig can learn to
run the maze faster. We do it by gathering the information and researching the
information that is useful and can be applied with our project. Moreover, next time, we
plan that we will start research more in details about our topic. Next, if we get all of the
information already, we will connect and analyze it together and create the effective
experiment.

Day 2
Date: 04/18/2017

Goal: Finalize the research questions and researching more about the information for
experiment

Reflection: For today, our activity is to finalize the topic for the experiment again. The
reason is because in the last class we got short period class and the time is not enough
for discussing. Moreover, we want the topic to be definitely completed and proper for the
project. Next, we start researching more about the information to be more specific and
more in details. For example, we need to compare and contrast the basic different
between male and female guinea pig. To know the basic personality of male and female
guinea pig help us to understand more about their nature and help to find the proper
method for teaching them as well. Then, we will use kind of this information to develop
our thought, solve the problems that may be occurred in the future, and create the
experiment. Unfortunately, after trying a lot to research the information, we can not
really find the information. Thus, in our group, we decide to start finding the research in
other kinds of mouse which is not guinea pig and use or compare it in the experiment
instead.

Date: 04/24/2017

Goal: Complete our topic again, find more about how to take care the guinea pig and list
the equipment for the guinea pigs

Reflection: For todays work, in our group, finally, we already got the top for the
experiment and the project and that is which gender of guinea pig can learn to run the
maze faster. Moreover, we brainstorm and try to think that what equipment the the
guinea pigs are needed and also find the information in the internet as well. For
example, a cage or hutch, pet carrier, food and water dishes, bedding, bail trimmers and
brush. Thus, this will make the guinea pig have all of the materials that they need and
this will make they feel comfortable more. Next, we have to submit all of the material list
in the Edmodo for the school to buy them for us.

Day 4
Date: 04/25/2017

Goal: Find the information and research to complete the outline or the proposal that will
be due by next Monday.

Reflection: For today, we will search for the information that relates to our project and
our experiment more. I searched trough the internet and found some websites that are
related and it said that the male guinea pigs have more ability or they can develop their
brains more that female guinea pigs. For all of the information we got will be in the
outline or the proposal that will be submitted by next week. Thus, we have to start
crating and doing some parts of it. The proposal has many different parts. For example,
the introduction, knowledge gap, the literature review, materials, and summary.

Day 5
Date: 05/01/2017

Goal: Complete the proposal and submit it on Edmodo

Reflection: Unfortunately, on this day, I did not come to school because of some family
business. However, I wrote some parts of the proposal online at home cooperating with
my friends in my group. Moreover, I already completed some parts of the proposal
already before. For example, the conclusion and literature review. Thus, we check the
information again and finished every part of it successfully.

Day 6
Date: 05/02/2017

Goal: Making a decision again which type of animals we are going to use whether
guinea pig or hamster.

Reflection: Due to, the problem that school did not support students to buy the guinea
pigs because of the cost. Then, we need to brainstorm again in order to decide that are
we going to change the animals to hamster or still using guinea pigs and buy it by
ourselves. Finally, we made a decision to still using guinea pig. The reason is we
searched for some videos about guinea pigs run the maze and hamster run the maze.
Next, we compare them together and think that guinea pig may have more potential
than hamster to run the maze and make our project successfully. Moreover, we looked
at some website that describe some characteristics of guinea pig and hamster and then
we think that the guinea pig will be easier for us to trend or practice them to complete
the mission which is running the maze. Additional, some members in our group had the
experience about the hamster and concern that hamsters have shorter life span than
guinea pig and they die easily. Lastly, we do not want to rewrite the proposal because in
our proposal we already wrote and mentioned the guinea pig already. Thus, we do not
want to do a research again about the hamster.

Day 7
Date: 05/03/2017

Goal: Rewriting the proposal in the parts that we make mistakes

Reflection: For today in class, our group meet with the teacher and we talk together
about the parts that we made mistakes, put less information, or some parts that are still
unclear in the proposal such as, forget to write the citation. Next, we rewrite those parts
again together. Moreover, we also talk about buying the guinea pig for next week
experiment. We call some guinea pigs store for the basic information, price, and some
details. Moreover, we have the opinion that we should get the guinea pig as soon as
possible because the more time the guinea pig adapt to the new experiment and get
used to it, the better it can complete the work or the mission to run the maze. Also, if we
get the guinea pig faster, it will have more time of getting know each of us and it will
help it feels more relax and more comfortable as well.

Day 8
Date: 05/08/2017

Goal: Get to know the real guinea pig and prepare their cages, some specific
equipments, and food for them.

Reflection: Finally, our group got 2 guinea pigs which are 1 female and another male.
We are so excited on them. Next, we prepare the cages, some specific equipments,
food, milk, and some vitamins C fro them in order to be healthy. For the first day, from
the observation, our group have an opinions that both of them are still scared and not
familiar with the new environment. The reason is because almost all of the time, both of
them like to stay at the back of the cage and do not like to come out at the front of the
cage even though we try to persuade them by give the food. Moreover, they also do not
allow all of us to pick them up. Thus, we can just touch them a little bit. In my opinion, I
think that it will take time for them to adapt with the new environment and get used to
with this place. We also read more information about how to take care the guinea pigs
for basic and what can we help them in order to make them feel more comfortable and
more relax.

Day 9
Date: 05/09/2017

Goal: Observe more about our guinea pigs behaviors

Reflection: For today, it is the second day after we get the guinea pigs. From the
observation, our group think that, today, the guinea pigs get used to with their new
home more. For the female guinea pig, it still seems scared but less than the first time.
Moreover, it allow us to pick them up for short time and it can eat some carrots form our
hands. For the male guinea pigs, at first, it got panic and run around the cage for many
times. Thus, we leave hem alone for a while and slowly touch them and that makes it
calms down and stay still. Maybe, it is because it feel trustful with us more and feel safer
as well. Next, surprisingly, it allows us to pick them up and I can feel that the guinea pig
is more comfortable and can adapt with the new environment more than yesterday for
sure.

Day 10
Date: 05/17/2017

Goal: To clean up our guineas pig cages, and arranges the equipments around to be in
order and proper.

Reflection: In this class, our group has to clean up the guinea pigs cages and move the
cages to the top of the tables because we can not place them on the floor anymore.
Thus, we divided in to two groups. The first one will take the guinea pigs from cages
and look after them while the other group are cleaning around. For the guinea pigs, in
my opinion, I think that they both are more friendly and did not feel scared of people like
the first few weeks and also more comfortable. Moreover, they show some behaviors
which express that they are happy and that makes our groups worried less about them.

Day 11
Date: 05/18/2017

Goal: Focusing more on creating and making the maze.

Reflection: For today, we spend almost all of the time in class to discuss, plan, crate and
starting designing the maze for our guinea pigs to run. Moreover, we also start building
some parts of it because we want our animals to try running in the maze as fast as we
can. Our group thinks that the more our animals try running in the maze, the more time
it will have in order to learn and remember the direction in the maze. Then, the results
will be better and successful. Thus, we draw the structure of the maze and cut some
paper that will be the walls of the maze.
