Displacement sensors and measurement sensors are used to measure

distances and dimensions of a still object. These sensors can be used in Pro-pen. A

displacement sensor is a device which identifies the amount of displacement which

converts and computes the displacement distance. This smart sensor works through

optical, linear proximity or ultrasonic waves, while a measurement sensor only

works by optical through light intensity determination, CCD/digital processing, or

laser scanning method. The measurement sensor is a device which converts

changes in amount of light into electrical signals then gives the dimension of an

object as the object interrupts a wide laser beam.

Pro-pen uses a displacement sensor that measures the length of the line

drawn by the user. When the built-in measuring device is on, the smart sensor

activates once the point of the pen touches the surface, and sends signals or

frequencies to the measuring device that will display the measurement. The

displacement sensor gets energy from the lithium batteries and starts measuring

the displacement distance. The measurement range of the sensor is up to ______ .

(1m? ) The smart sensor is 2cm (0.07ft) in length and has a sensor head near the

point of the pen. The sensor head is 0.04cm long and is 7.6cm away from the smart

sensor. The measurement value display, scale inversion, and the number of display

digits changes are controlled by the built-in measuring device.
