The course proposes to cover two important fields of communication phenomena,


Communication theory and Communication in the social field. The approach is
interdisciplinary: Semiotics, Structural linguistics, Philosophy of language, Sociology, Social
Psychology.

Objectives
The course focuses both on theoretical approach of communication, and practical aspects of
the activity. In this context, this course proposes that students to achieve the next abilities:
- to know to identify the phenomena and processes with communication character in the
social sciences context;
- to know to use the interpretation and analysis tools of communication sciences in order to
characterise a problem
- to explain phenomena, processes, events which have a communication character through
proposed analysis and interpretation models.

Approach
- workshops covering each subject, based on bibliography
- discussions and student presentations
During each workshop, the students are working with the bibliographic material brought by
the professor and discuss the findings with the colleagues during presentations.

The professor is available on email for personal feedback and we could organize skype
meetings on request.

Evaluation criteria
- To analyse and to interpret the main concepts of the discipline;
- To work with important texts of the discipline;
- To use research methodologies
Final paperwork 50%
Paperwork during semester 30%
Active participation during discussion 20%.
