In the year 1769, a French engineer by the name of Nicolas j cugnot invented the first
automobile to turn on roads. This automobile, in fact, was the first-flowered, three
wheeled, military tractor that made the use of a steam engine. The range of the
automobile, however, was very brief and at the most, it could only run at a stretch for
fifteen minutes. In addition, these automobiles were not fit for the road as the steam
engine made them very heavy and large, and required ample starting time. Oliver earns
was the first to design a team engine driven automobile in US.
The automobile industry finally came of age with Henry ford in 1914 for the bulk
production of cars. This lead to development of the industry and it first begun in the
assembly lines of his car factory. This several method adopted by Ford, made the new
invention (that is, the car) popular among the rich as well as the masses.
Since the first car rolled out on the street of Mumbai (then Bombay) in 1898, the
automobile industry of India has come a long way. During its early stages the auto
industry was overlooked by the government and the policies were also not favorable. The
liberalization policy and various than relies by the govt. of India in recent years have
made remarkable implants on Indian automobile industry, which it currently growing at
the face of around 18% per annum, has become a hot destination for global auto player
like Volvo, General motor and Ford.
A well developed transportation system plays a key role in the development of the
economy and Indian is no expectation to it. With the growth of transportation system the
automotive industry of India is also growing at rapid speed, occupying an important place
on the canvases of Indian economy.
Today Indian automotive industry is fully capable of producing several of vehicles and
can be divided into 3 broad categories cars, two-wheelers and heavy vehicles.
The current trends of the global automobile industry reveal that in the developed
countries the automobile industries are stagnating as a result of the drooping car market,
whereas the automobile industry in the developing nations, such as, India and Brazil,
have been consistently registering higher growth rates every passing year for their
flourishing domestic automobile market.
Today almost all the major global companies are present in India producing two
wheelers and passengers car in all most all the segment. India produced about seven
