Found: God's will

Ch 1

Is God a cosmic killjoy?

- some people thinks His will is lost, because they are "searching" for it => He lives
in us! No search needed!
- Don't need to be a dramatic experience to hear Him.
- McArthur believes that there are some principles we can apply to understand
God's will.
- Since God has a will for us, He must want us to know it.
- Understanding of his will through the bible!

Comment:

Is everything that anyone needs to know about God clearly revealed in the pages of His
Word? MacArthur says he believes it. But as in 1 John says, the Word came alive,
meaning Jesus is the truth, the word, and so He is alive! So the bible is a book, but the
real Word is Him! And couldn't His spirit reveal us things that are not in the bible?!
Finding the hidden treasures?!

Ch 2

The crucial first step

- God's first will (2 Peter 3:9): "not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to
repentance". He wants people to be saved.
- He has no reason to reveal anything of His plans if you are not meeting the basic
qualification, to be saved!

God Leads His Own

- in Him we live and move and exist (acts 17:28);
- the sheep follow him because they know his voice (john 10:4)
- without Christ, people are strangers to God

Confrontation at UCLA
- who wants to hear about sin?? => some people cant take it!
- want do to Gods will?? => tell people about Him!

Summing-up:

Gods wants us to be saved and to preach His word. He will lead us in His way. How
much are you willing to confess and hear from Him?!

Ch 3

The fizzies principle

- do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is (eph 5:17)
- second Gods will: be filled with the Spirit.
- Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. (rom 8:9)

Complete in Him
- His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,
through the knowledge of Him (2 Pe 1:3) => He gives us everything we need!
- But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you (acts 1:8)
=> power in Greek from dunamis, like dynamite. The power is there, but it is not
so often released... one thing is to posses the Spirit and other thing is to be filled
with the Spirit.
- glove and piano exemple: the hand = Spirit, glove = hand. The glove does not get
pious and say, oh hand, show me the way to go. It does not say anything, it just
goes! Spirit-filled people do not mumble and stumble around trying to find out
what God wants. They just go!
- The Spirit-filled life yields every decision to the control of the Spirit

Peter-s Experience
- when he was near Jesus, Peter could do the miraculous.
- Peter did not ever want to be removed from the presence of Jesus.

Ready for Burial

- when Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit, he had the same power as when he
was standing next to Jesus Christ!
- Spirit-filled life is living every moment as though you are standing in the presence
of Jesus Christ!
- The Spirit-filled life is nothing more than living in the conscious presence of the
indwelling Christ.
- Spirit-filled life express itself: in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing
and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father

Filled with the Word

- the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom (col. 3:16)
- Spirit-filled is being saturated with the things of Christ - with His Word, His Person
=> study the bible!

Planned Neglect
- violinist exemple of how she became so skilled: she planned to neglect everything
that was not related to her goal.
- the more you study the Word of God, the more your mind would be saturated with
it. It will be no problem then for you to think of Christ. You wont be able to stop
thinking of Him!
- there is no shortcut to that!

Summing-up:

Gods wants us to be Spirit-filled. We can go wherever we want if He is the one in

control. Study, study, hear, hear, pray, pray.. get saturated with the Holy Spirit so you can
dwell in Him and He can dwell in you. Plan neglect everything that doesnt come from
Him. There is no short-cut!
