CREATIVE COMPETITION GUIDELINE


DANCE COMPETITION

I. DYNAMICS
1. The competition is open to all YFC members.
2. There should be one entry per PROGRAM. All sectors should confirm their entry on or before
August 10 2010, Wednesday. (The official list should be signed by the Overall Program
Couple Coordinator to ensure that they are certified YFC members).
3. Each dance group must be composed of 10-12 members. One point will be deducted in
excess of this limit/in deficiency of the provision.
4. Entries must also be composed of MIXED dancers – brothers and sisters (there should
be more than 1 sister/brother in a group). Programs that will not comply will automatically
face disqualification.
5. Dance type shall be modern-contemporary and/or combination of this and
traditional/classic dance types as long as they are expressed in the character and vibrancy
of today’s youth. (Ballet & cultural will not be considered unless they are mixed with and
danced to contemporary pop and youth culture styles of dance and music—hiphop, techno,
etc.)
6. The first part of the competition will showcase the groups’ prepared dance. Maximum time for
performance is five (5) minutes including entrance and exit. Time starts once
choreography starts and ends immediately after the last movement. Three points will be
deducted from the total score for every minute or fraction thereof in excess of the allotted time.
7. The second part of the dance is a showdown—“you-got-served-type”. Only 1 or 2 person/s
can represent each group. With a given music, (chosen by the COMPETITIONS
COMMITTEE), the representative/s of each group will outdo each other on the dance floor, one
group at a time.
8. Movements should not be vulgar or sexually suggestive.
9. Costumes must be decent and proper for the dance. The COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE
reserves the right not to allow the performance of a group due to costume technicalities.
10. Music should be wholesome and lively. Subliminal, sexually suggestive, and vulgar
lyrics/language will not be allowed. (eg. Peaches and Cream, Sex Bomb, Too Close, etc.)
Non-compliance with the guideline will result in disqualification.
11. It is the group’s responsibility to signify their presence one hour before the competition
and to show up at least one hour before their playing time. All groups should register from
7:30 am to 8:00 am. One point will be deducted for every 5 minutes late. There will be a
separate registration table for the competitors.
12. Dance group who will not comply will risk disqualification.
13. Tapes and title of music to be used should be submitted to the COMPETITIONS
COMMITTEE on August 10, 2010. Three (3) points per day will be deducted from the total
score for the late submission of entries. The COMMITTEE should also be notified ahead for
any changes that will be made.

A CAPELLA COMPETITION

I. DYNAMICS
1. The competition is open to all YFC members.
2. There should be one entry per Program. All Programs should confirm their entry with the
lyrics of the song on August 10, 2010. (The official list should be signed by the Overall
Program Couple Coordinator to assure that they are certified YFC members).
3. Each group must be composed of 8-10 members. One point will be deducted for every
person in excess of the limit.
4. Entries must also be composed of MIXED singers – brothers and sisters (there should
be more than 1 sister/brother in a group). Sectors that will not comply will automatically
face disqualification.
5. It can be a medley or an original composition as long as it will not exceed the time allotted. All
renditions must be in a capella.
6. Use of body parts to produce music is encouraged to enhance the performance.
7. Use of any other instruments is not allowed. Programs that will not comply will automatically
face disqualification.
8. Lyrics should be wholesome and not suggestive or vulgar. Filipino songs are highly
recommended.
9. The song rendition should not exceed five minutes. There will be a one-minute grace
period for entrance and another minute for the exit.
10. Costume must be decent and proper for the performance. COMPETITIONS
COMMITTEE deserves the right not to allow the performance of a group due to costume
technicalities.
11. Lyrics and title of song to be used should be submitted to the COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE
on August 10, 2010. Three (3) points per day will be deducted from the total score for the late
submission of entries. The COMMITTEE should also be notified ahead for any changes that
will be made.

BAND COMPETITION
1. The competition is open to all YFC members.
2. There should be one entry per program. All Programs should confirm their entry on or
before August 10, 2010. (The official list should be signed by the YFC Over-all Program
Couple Coordinator to assure that they are certified YFC members).
3. The number of band members may range from 5 to 12 persons (instrumentalist and
singers combined) One point will be deducted from the total score for every person in excess
of this limit.
Each band will be allowed to play two contemporary/pop secular songs (not medleys).
4. Presentation should not exceed 10 minutes. One point will be deducted from the total
score for every minute or fraction thereof in excess of the time allotted.
NOTE: Each band will also be given 5 minutes sound check one hour before the entire
event starts.
5. The band look, which includes costumes of singers and band members, must be decent and
proper. It is the band’s responsibility to signify their presence one hour before the competition
and to show up at least one hour before their playing time. All groups should register from
7:30 am to 8:00 am. One point will be deducted for every 5 minutes late. There will be a
separate registration table for the competitors.
6. Bands who will not comply will risk disqualification.
7. The Competition Committee will provide as part of the sound system all amplifiers, vocal
microphones and set of drums per competing band. The competing bands must provide for
instruments and other gadgets if necessary.
8. Titles and Lyrics of songs should be submitted to the Competition Committee on or
before August 10, 2010. Three (3) points per day will be deducted from the total score for
the late submission of entries. The committee should also be notified ahead of any changes
that will be made.
9. To avoid song repetition, a “first come, first serve” rule will be applied. In case of
duplication, band/s concerned will be notified immediately by the Competitions Committee in
order to change their song.
