MICHAEL PALIN

Michael Palin is an English comedian, actor, writer, and tele-

vision presenter. He was born on May 5, 1943 in Broomhill,
Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. He is the
second child of Mary Rachel Ovey and Edward Moreton
Palin. He studied at the Shrewsbury School, and graduated
from Brasenose College, Oxford with a degree in History. At
college, he met Robert Hewison and Terry Jones. Palin and
Jones became a team. They collaborated together in some
projects.
He supported the cause of sustainable transport, particularly
in urban areas. He is famous for his role in Monty Python.

Graham Arthur Chapman was an English comedian, writer
and actor. He was born in Leicester on January 8th 1941
and was raised in Melton Mowbray. He enjoyed science,
acting and comedy, and after graduating from Emmanuel
College, Cambridge and St Bartholomews Medical College,
he turned down a career as a doctor to be a comedian.
Chapman was openly homosexual and a strong supporter of
gay rights. He was an alcoholic during his time at Cambrid-
ge and the early Python years. Chapman died of tonsil and
spinal cancer on 4 October 1989.

JOHN CLEESE
John Marwood Cleese is an English actor, voice actor,
screenwriter, producer, and comedian. He was born on
October 27th in 1939 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset,
England. His familys surname was originally Cheese, but his
father had thought it was embarrassing and changed it when
he enlisted in the Army during the First World War. From
1970 to 1973, Cleese served as rector of the University of St
Andrews. At a comic press conference in November 2013,
Cleese and other surviving members of the Monty Python
comedy group announced a reuniting performance to be
held in July 2014.

TERRY GILLIAM
Terrence Vance Terry Gilliam is an American-born British
screenwriter, film director, animator, actor and comedian.
The only Python not born in Britain, he became a natu-
ralised British citizen in 1968 and formally renounced his
American citizenship in 2006.
Gilliam was born in Minnesota on November 22nd in 1940,
but spent his high school and college years in Los Angeles.
He joined Monty Python as the animator of their works, but
eventually became a full member and was given acting
roles. He became a feature film director in the 1970s.
