4. What Is PMI?

In the 1960s project management as such began to be used in the

aerospace, construction and defence
` industries.
PMI established at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1969 as a
non profit organization. It was incorporated in the state of
Pennsylvania in the same year.

In the 1980s, efforts were made to standardize project management

procedures and approaches. The PMI produced the first Project
Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) in 1996. 8

Wherever you are in your career, PMI has a certification for you.
5. Certificates Of PMI:

9
5. Certificates Of PMI:

PMI offer eight certifications that recognize knowledge and competency, including
the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification held by more than
650,000 practitioners and growing worldwide. Salaries and career opportunities for
certification holders show that employers recognize the value delivered by trained
practitioners. 10

`
Project Management Professional (PMP)
The PMP is the gold standard of project management
certification. Recognized and demanded by organizations
worldwide, the PMP validates your competence to perform
in the role of a project manager, leading and directing
projects and teams.
The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the most
important industry-recognized certification for project
managers.

11
Project Management Professional (PMP)
You can find PMPs leading projects in nearly every country and, unlike
other certifications that focus on a particular geography or domain, the
PMP is truly global. As a PMP, you can work in virtually any industry,
with any methodology and in any location.
The PMP also increases your earning potential. PMP certification
holders earn 20 percent more than their non-certified peers according
to Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey, Ninth Edition.
Employers benefit as well. When more than one-third of their project
managers are PMP-certified, organizations complete more of their
projects on time, on budget and meeting original goals. (Pulse of the
Profession study, PMI, 2015.)
12
Project Management Professional (PMP)
The PMP signifies that you speak and understand the global language
of project management and connects you to a community of
professionals, organizations and experts worldwide. Become a PMP
and become a project hero.

12. My Recommended Study Plan
Stage#1
(1) If you dont have 35 PDU to enter the
exam, you may easily get them by listening to
Mr. Mohamed Al-Sadany PMP free on line
course on UDEMY
(https://www.udemy.com/saadany-
pmp/learn/v4/content).

(2) If you already have 35 PDU, you

may listen to Mr. Ehab Al-Maleh
youtube course
(https://www.youtube.com/playlist
?list=PLUmD5wQ2FYzln56sOLWww
6aPFeBs2LKme).
26
12. My Recommended Study Plan
Stage#2
(3) After completion of course listening, you shall read
each chapter in PMBOK (attachment 4) and solve
questions after completion of each chapter from RITA
book (attachment 5).

(4) Its preferable if you print PMBOK and read from

hard copy so that you can write your remarks.

(5) You may use any assistant book with PMBOK such
as RITA or Head first (attachment 6) so that you will
read any ambiguous portion from the assistant book if
its not clear in PMBOK.

(6) However; the main book for study must be the

PMBOK. You will find it difficult at the beginning but
after some time you will be familiar with book style. 27
12. My Recommended Study Plan
Stage#3
(7) You shall read PMBOK for the second time.

(8) Solve advanced question after each chapter from the following
sources:
-- PM study chapter questions (attachment 7).
-- Green book 2016 chapter questions (attachment 8).
-- PREPCAST (attachment 9).
-- Head First (attachment 10).

(9) Its very important that you will make separate file for each
chapter. This file will consist of four other sub files. Each sub file
will contain questions which you wrongly solved from the source so
that they will be reviewed in another / future stage.

28
12. My Recommended Study Plan
(10) In this stage you will start solving general questions (not specific for certain chapter). Its also very
Stage#4 recommended that you will adjust consumed time for solving the question in this stage. Try to train
yourself that one question will be solved in one minute.

(11) I recommend to solve Green 2016 18 Mock exams (attachment 11). They are near to real exam
questions. Each exam consist of 50 questions. You have to train yourself to solve one exam in maximum
one hour. You shouldnt leave PMBOK reading at this stage. You shall read (one chapter + questions of
item 9) between each two exams i.e. two exams then (one chapter + questions of item 9) then two
examsetc.

(12) You should also try to solve full exams i.e. 200 question in four continuous hours to examine your
concentration & stamina. I recommend four PMSTUDY Exams (attachment 12) for this stage. If you
wish to succeed in PMP, you should not miss even one day without reading chapters or solving
question. In case you dont have a time, at least you shall join PM STUDY GROUP which considered
the biggest face book group for PMP. Its very dynamic group has about 200000 active members and
its full of questions and hot topics regarding PMP. All members are cooperative and everyone pass the
exam share his lesson learned

o Note: excessive use of that group is not recommended. Its better to achieve your study plan rather than spending
more time using group. It can be used only if you dont have chance to achieve your plan. 29

13. What Are Features Of Exam? Is It
Difficult Or Easy??
PMP exam is not difficult and also not easy. It examines your
understanding, analytical thinking & your ability to take fast / correct
decision in short time.
Time factor is very essential in the exam. You have to efficiently
control your time.
When you find that it will take more than one 1.5 minute for a
question, choose the nearest answer, make tic mark on the question
so that you can review it after completion.
You should also try to search for the key word to solve the question.
For more details, please read my exam tips (attachment 14). 30
14. Is PMPs Exam Depend On Keeping
Information Or Analytical Thinking?
The exam is not depending on your keeping. It depends
on your understanding and majority of questions are
situational. Direct questions are very rear (may be one
or two).
The questions put you in real situations which you will
face as a project manager and examine how you will
act? Which tools shall be used? How you will apply
what you learned in PMBOK.
31
15. What About Exam Language ? Is It
Easy?
Most probably yes. However; its recommended to
choose assistance language to translate the
ambiguous words.
Dont read the complete translated question as
Arabic translation is poor. Only read the translation
for the words which you dont know.

32
16. Why Its Easy For EHV Project Employee To Succeed In
PMP Comparing To Others?
Oriented with projects management and know basic / main dimensions of projects.
Communicating / managing proficiently different cultures, nationalities & personalities.
Very familiar with contract management.
Realising Project scope of work.

on-going research to meet the real-world needs of
organizations. With a PMI certification behind your
name, you can work in virtually any industry,
anywhere in the world, and with any project

35
18. How To Apply PMP On Our Practical Work & Life?
There is two ways for definite failure: whether to
apply each and every thing in PMBOK or not to
apply anything!
Its clearly mentioned in PMBOK that the proposed
procedures are the best practices however; the
project manager shall tailor whats required and
not required for his project.
36
18. How To Apply PMP On Our Practical Work & Life?
We can apply PMP as follows:

processes, policies, procedures, and knowledge bases
specific to and used by the performing organization. They
include any artefact, practice, or knowledge from any or all
of the organizations involved in the project that can be used
to perform or govern the project.
Facilitate Lesson learned
Use PMBOK tools while creating scope of work.
Control Time schedule.
Create quality standards which will facilitate quality auditing
and quality control. 37
18. How To Apply PMP On Our Practical Work & Life?
Managing Human resources, solving conflicts & creating
selection criteria.
Communication Management Plan.
Effective & Efficient Communication (Mr. Mahdy Al-Dossary
great example).
Project Risk management & creating risk register.
Applying Procurement Management (Auditing Contractors
Performance all over the project & creating source selection
criteria).
Stakeholder management (importance of stakeholder
management, risk register stakeholder plans & issue log).
