ImmigrationRulesAppendixK:shortageoccupationlist
ShortageOccupationList.

1.WheretheseRulesrefertojobswhichappearontheShortageOccupationList,thismeansonlythosespecific
jobswithineachStandardOccupationalClassificationcodestatedinTables1and2belowand,wherestated,
wherethefurtherspecifiedcriteriaaremet.
2.JobswhichappearontheUnitedKingdomShortageOccupationListaresetoutinTable1.
3.JobswhichappearontheScotlandOnlyShortageOccupationListaresetoutinTable2.
4.InthisAppendixqualifyingcompanymeansacompanywhich:
(a)hasobtainedpermissionfromtheHomeOfficetoissueaCertificateofSponsorshipinrespectoftherelevant
jobonthebasisthatthejobisincludedontheShortageOccupationListandthecompany:
(i)islicensedasasponsorforthepurposesofTier2ofthePointsBasedSystem,
(ii)atthetimeofobtainingsuchpermission,employsbetween20and250employees(inclusive),oremploys
fewerthan20employeesandhasprovidedaletterfromtheDepartmentforInternationalTrade,confirming
thattheDepartmenthasbeenworkingwiththecompanyandsupportstheapplicationinrelationtoitstradeor
investmentactivity,
(iii)isnotmorethan25%ownedbyacompanywhichhasoneormoreotherestablishmentsintheUKand
oneofthoseestablishmentsemploysmorethan250employeesand
(iv)hasnotbeenestablishedintheUKforthepurposeofsupplyingservicesexclusivelytoasinglecompanyor
companygroupintheUKand
(b)willhavenomorethantenTier2(General)Migrantsworkingforitatanyonetimeinjobstowhichthe
requirementtobeemployedbyaqualifiedcompanyapplies,ifallCertificatesofSponsorshipinrespectofsuch
jobsleadtoagrantofleaveasaTier2(General)Migrant.
5.ForthepurposesofthisAppendix,wherethejobisonetowhicharequirementforspecifiedexperienceapplies,
thesponsormust:
(a)retainreferencesfromtheindividualspastemployer(s)detailingtherequiredexperience,assetoutinthe
tablesbelow,andprovidethesetotheHomeOfficeonrequestand
(b)retainrelevantevidenceenablingittodemonstrate:
(i)whythejobrequiressomeonewiththerequiredexperience
(ii)whythejobcouldnotbecarriedouttotherequiredstandardbysomeonewithlessexperienceand
(iii)howitwouldexpectasettledworkertogainthisexperiencebeforebeingappointedtothepostand
(c)paytheexperiencedworkersalaryrate,ifbothnewentrantandexperiencedworkerratesarespecified
fortheappropriateStandardOccupationalClassificationcodeinAppendixJ.

inTables3and4.Thesejobsdonotappearonthecurrentlistsandaresetoutforthepurposeofinforming
