Lesson Plan

I. Title/Topic and Grade Level

Learning shapes and patterns, Kindergarten
II. Lesson Essential Question
How can we learn to understand shapes and patterns in
sequence?
III. Standard:
With help from the teachers, the students will practice making
shapes and patterns in a sequence order.
IV. Objectives and Assessments:

Learning Objectives Assessments

Students will understand how the Teacher observed the students after
shapes and patterns form together giving them a few examples on
in a sequence. shapes and patterns. The students
showed their knowledge on shapes
and patterns in the sequence they
were required to do.
V. Materials:
Plastic 3-d shapes
Pattern board
Paper
Pencils
VI. Pre-lesson assignments:
The students have been learning about shapes since the
beginning of the school year. They are going to distinguish
different patterns that comes from when you put the shapes in
sequence order. They will learn about the sequences in which
gives them knowledge on the patterns.
VII. Lesson Beginning:
Explain to the students how they are going to be able to figure
out the patterns by using the shapes given to them. Tell them
that after the teacher explains the assignment they must try to
follow the sequence order and complete the pattern.
VIII. Instructional Plan:
1. During morning meeting, give the students of different patterns
and sequence orders that they can be in.
2. Allow the children to collect their materials
3. Once everyone is seated, the teacher starts by explaining each
shape and how the different ways the patterns can look.
4. The children look at the first pattern with the shapes that they
are given and attempt to follow the pattern in a sequence order.
5. They then attempt to complete the pattern with the shapes in
the correct sequence order.
6. After they are done, the teacher comes around to look at the
patterns and if the children are stuck or need assistance then the
teacher explains their errors.

IX. Conclusion:
After the students completed the sequence order of patterns, the
teacher asked the students to explain them to their classmate. By
doing this, the teacher made sure that the students understood how
sequence works with shapes. The teacher explained that patterns
usually repeat themselves so you then will begin to understand how
the sequence order goes. By having them practice the pattern skill,
they have knowledge about shapes and also sequences.
