Description of Town
The Philippines is defined by its emerald rice fields, teeming mega cities,
graffiti-splashed jeepneys, smoldering volcanoes, bug-eyed tarsiers, fuzzy water
buffalo and smiling, and a happy go-lucky people (Lonelyplanet.com). This Asian
country is full of mesmerizing sceneries and rich natural resources.
Batanguenos are naturally festive and friendly people. All year round, they
celebrate many festivities such as the Parada ng Lechon (Parade of Roasted Pigs) in
Balayan Batangas. In Cuenca, Batangas they celebrate Tinapayan Festival as they
claim Cuenca to be the Home of the Bakers. Sublian Festival in Batangas City is
celebrated to worship the Holy Cross.
The town was founded on its present location in 1754, having been
transferred from the fridge of Taal Lake where it was originally situated. It is
generally that Tanauan together with Sala, was original founded in 1572 by the
Augustinians missionaries who built mission at the shore of lake known as Bonbon
(now Taal). Tanauan became a first class municipality in 1996 and became a city
after five years.
The city was once known as the Cradle of Noble Heroes, due to the
contribution of Apolinario Mabini, the Brains of the Revolution to the revolutionary
movement, and then followed by Pres. Jose P. Laurel. Today, Tanauan is now dubbed
as the City of Colors. Its colors are manifested in the beauty and richness of the
city in terms of its culture, history and natural resources. It is one of the countrys
fast emerging metropolis and eco-tourism destination. Tanauan is truly a colorful
and vibrant city.
We, the proponents, are proposing an event called The Festival of Colors
where activities related to tourism will be set for four days that will surely promote
the beauty, culture, talent and authenticity of Tanauan. The following are the
proposed activities for the celebration:
Color Run. This will be a different kind of fun run since colors will be
splashed in the clothes and bodies of the participants. It will be a fundraising event
for the
Zumbang Gabi. Tanauaenos, of all ages are naturally active and lively
people. Join them in a night of music and
Bulador Festival. Kite flying is not new to the Philippines. Kites come in
different sizes, shapes and color. Tanauan, through the vibrant colors of the bulador
may be promoted as a lively and kaleidoscopic city.
