Warm- up (5minutes)
The teacher greets the students and asks them how their morning was, if they have a
series of actions they do every morning before school, in order to introduce the topic of the
Present Simple.

Students try to answer the questions following some pictures showing different activities and
they tell their habitual actions using specific adverbs, such as: always, sometimes, seldom,
usually, never.

Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T.

Activity 1(10 minutes)

The teacher announces the title of the lesson and asks each pair of students to create a
questionnaire for their partner.

They have to formulate and to write 5 questions for their partner to answer, about their
schedule, habitual actions. Students work in pairs and create a list of questions.

The teacher writes on the board models: What/ do/ on Mondays? What/ do/ on weekends?
What/ do/ in the evening? Where/ go/ on holidays? When/ visit/ grandparents?...

Interaction: T-Ss, pair work.

Activity 2(15 minutes)

The teacher draws attention to the -s/ -es ending for the third person, and to the turning of the
Y into IES.

The teacher asks students to make questions according to the pictures given using the specific
verb. Students have to look at some pictures in groups and write questions using the given verb
and also give a true answer. In groups, they have to present their pictures in front of the class.

Interaction: group work

Activity 3(15 minutes)

The teacher gives each student a sheet to complete the lyrics of a song, using Present Simple.
The students work individually. Then, they listen to the song making sure that their answers were
correct.

Students can also sing while correcting, following the lyrics from their worksheet.

Interaction: T-Ss, group work.

Activity 4(10 minutes)

The teacher asks the students to imagine that they are in a different country and they want to
find a roommate, so they write a note about themselves: Example of a note: I get up at about
6:00 oclock and I go to bed at about 10:00 oclock. I dont smoke or I dont drink. I never
watch TV. I like pop music, I like ice cream. I clean the house everyday. Students ask (Do
you like pop music? Do you get up at 6:00 oclock?... )and answer questions about their daily
routines, without showing the note in order to find the perfect room mate.

Interaction: T-S, S-group, S-S

Extra activity

The teacher shows students a picture of an action, general truth, fixed time table and asks them
to mime it in front of the class so that they could get the right answer using Present Simple. The
group with more correct answers wins.
