thermal control products

Environmental friendliness
The miniaturisation of components, the widespread use of electronics and
the appearance of new power electronic base products make temperature
management a constraint similar to IP, which must more and more
frequently be taken into account in the design of electrical and/or electronic
switchboards.

Reliability and minimum failure rates are two determining factors in process
industries in which the hourly cost of installation operations is extremely
high; any failure immediately creates losses which may reach considerable
amounts.

The life of the component itself depends upon temperature and humidity
conditions in the enclosure: the ideal temperature is between + 10 to +
40 C with a relative humidity (RH) of 30 to 90 %.

HIMEL proposes a variety of solutions adapted to all cases: ranging from

the simple enclosure itself to ventilation or heat exchanger systems, and
cooling units.

advice for fitting:

c make the openings according to the
directions given on the die-cutting template
included with the unit.
c fit the condensation outlet pipe correctly to
allow gravity flow and prevent water entering
the enclosure.
c try to ensure that the air-conditioning unit
is not subject to impacts from outside.
c connect the alarm cable to a selected
signalling device.
c do not fit cable conduits or components
over the enclosure outlet holes as the flow
of air and performance of the unit will be
affected.
c do not obstruct the inlet and outlet orifices
allowing the flow of external air, even
partially. These orifices must be located at
least 400 mm from the nearest wall.
c try to ensure that the filters are easily
accessible so they can be removed and
replaced conveniently.
c an alarm device is activated in the event of

air-water exchangers ICT - ICL

general characteristics
c main components: control system,
exchange cassette, fan for interior circuit in
enclosure, security device against possible
water leaks.
c the desired interior temperature can be
controlled from +25C to +50C.
c air/water exchangers have a detection
device which closes a contact on detecting a
water circuit leak. This device can be used
to: power an indicator light, alarm or the
input to a PLC which automatically cuts off
the water supply.
c the interior circuit (which moves the air in
the enclosure) runs constantly to prevent hot
spots in the electrical installation and
components.
c it includes a device to discharge water
collected from condensation to the exterior
as standard.

conditions of use:
c air/water exchangers can be used in all
cases regardless of whether the exterior
temperature is higher or lower than that
required inside the enclosure.
c the enclosure must be sealed to prevent
penetration by exterior air.
