ofboostingtheoctaneratingofAvgashavestilltobefoundhowever.

Antioxidants(guminhibitors)mustbeusedinAvgastopreventtheformationofgum
andotherantioxidationproducts.Jetfuels,whichareinherentlymorestablethan
gasolines,maycontainthem,dependingonthetreatmentprocessusedduring
manufacture.

Ametaldeactivatornowrarelyusedmaybeaddedtonullifytheeffectsof
dissolvedtracemetals,especiallycopper,whichcanimpairthethermalstabilityofjet
fuels.

Corrosioninhibitorscanbeusedtoreducecorrosioninfuelsystemandimprovethe
lubricitylubricatingpropertiesofjetfuels.

Fuelsystemicinginhibitorsreducethefreezingpointofanywaterthatmaybeinthe
fuelsystemandpreventtheformationoficecrystalsthatcouldrestrictfuelflow.
TheyaremandatoryinmilitaryJetbutarenotusedincivilaircraftthathavefuel
heaters.TheymaybeaddedtoeitherJetorAvgasduringthefuellingofsmall
aircraft.

Staticdissipateradditivesminimisethehazardouseffectsofstaticchargesthatbuild
upduringmovementofjetfuels.TheyaresometimesusedinAvgasaswell.
