then work together to complete a venn diagram comparing
Overview and contrasting two animals from the story.

Essential Question

Students will be able to


Complete a venn diagram by finding the similarities

Promethean board, pencils, venn diagram
worksheet projected onto the board as well as
Materials individual copies for each student, vocab review
activity on board, listening ears, open eyes, closed
mouths, and ready to learn students.
Show the students two hats and ask them to point out the
Introduction/ similarities between the two. (This is also an informal
assessment to see how well they can compare and contrast
Hook already to help determine how much time should be spent
on that part of this weeks lesson.)
1. Ask students what they recall from the book
introduced last class.
2. Vocab Review Activity
3. Read the book as a class.
4. Once the book has been read, the class will pick
two animals from the story to compare and contrast.
After passing out the venn diagrams I will call on
Instructional each student for suggestions and write them on the
Activities board as we go and the students will write them
down on their individual sheets as well.
5. For practice the class will divide into two groups
and pick up a bag with two objects inside of it and
complete a venn diagram comparing and
contrasting the two things.

Reading the book out loud as a group, allowing more time
