RE: INSPECTION REPORT NO. 5 (2017) - FOR THE PROPOSED MT. HAGEN
COMMERCIAL CENTRE PROJECT
WEATHER:
The weather was fairly dry most of the day during our site inspection and that helps the contractor to
progress in construction works.
EQUIPME NT ON SITE:
Equipment on site to expedite the remaining earthworks activities.

1 Backhoe 2 Cranes
2 Dump Truck
ACTIVITIES:
A. CIVIL WORKS
Demolition:
After the previous demolition. No ongoing demolition activities at the time of visit.
Clearing & Grubbing:
Grass and other vegetation are yet to be removed in some areas along the perimeter fence.
Earthworks:
For the car parks, concrete pavement works are in progress at the time of this inspection and has
progress to 40%
B. STRUCTURAL WORKS
At the time of this inspection, Contractor has progressed base-building works for building
A, B, C and D and achieved approximately 95%, 60%, 65% and 90% respectively. As
indicated, construction of foundation works, formwork and reinforcement assembly for all
Buildings were completed to 100% but behind schedule. Contractor has just completed
100% of portion of the slab which was left to accommodate underground services ducts
works for Building D.
Construction of Block work or fire wall for all buildings were completed to 100% and
awaiting rendering at the time of this inspection
Steel frame construction works has already commenced for all Buildings. At the time of
this inspection, all buildings steel works have progressed well and achieved 98%, 50%,
10% and 95% respectively for building A, B, C and D.
REMARKS:
Flexible fill were installed on all previous block wall to block pier or RC column as remedial works
to comply with design. Flexible fill were also noted installed on new similar connections thereby
comply with design to permit stress relieve or lateral movement without suffering cracks in the
event of earthquake and wind gust. The specification of the flexible fill was supplied by the
contractor and was assessed as conforming to design specification. Yet to be sealed off by epoxy
grout.
All exposed steel (holding down bolts and reinforcements) shall be tapped to avoid corrosion attack
and development of oxidation scales which can potentially reduce the thickness of steel parts.
All concrete works and reinforcement works shall be photographed and emailed clearing noting
date when poured and formwork is stripped. Concrete pour schedule must correspond with QA
testing number and photographic evidences must be provided.
Excessive ponding was observed behind Building D. Contractor has started earthworks and to
provide exit drainage at the time of this inspection. This is an outstanding requirements under
current SNAG Lists
All remedial works and or defects noticed at the time of this inspection are populated in the SNAG
Lists attached. Contractor to perform the recommendations and provide photographic evidence of
the same.
Since the Steel Frame works has already began, any specific queries that demands Structural
Engineers presence on site outside of the schedule shall be requested in writing by contractor
through the Project Manager.
